Have you heard about BlackFridayGiving.org (1102 hits)

BlackFridayGiving.org is the landing page for a national online initiative to foster an economic stimulus for historic institutions, organizations, schools and charities that create a safety net for African Americans and the Diaspora.

African American households are encouraged to make a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly donation of $8 (the cost of a discount movie ticket) on a consistent basis to secure the future of the dire needs these organizations meet on a daily basis.

Whether saving institutions such as Morris Brown College and the like, helping to provide scholarships, or helping homeless and working poor, these organizations need our help and commitment.

Friday, February 20, 2009 is the first Friday. Please visit today to learn more as we continue to list organizations we will support. BlackFridayGiving.org is simply a landing page and receives no part of contributions made.

Start giving http://www.BlackFridayGiving.org and help spread the word.

the ROI is that our generation creates a generation with a new found since of community. What's the ROI of Medgar Evers giving his life? What's the ROI of showing that you stand for somethng; care for something; or get involved in somthing that has an ever lasting effect?

I completely understand about teaching to fish. Many of the organizations are doing just that. keep in mind we are talking about helping to sustain these organizations. In teaching to fish, isn't it great if you had the resources of which to do so? BlackFridayGiving.org is the landing page to find a place to do so. Rather than re-invent the wheel in creating another program, we just serve to remind that there are those doing the "teaching" everyday and need our support "everyday" but we are asking you to think about them atleast one day.
