Mr. Rupert Murdoch's apology for the New York Post's Offensive cartoon. (844 hits)

We got Rupert Murdoch to apologize???!!!!

As the Chairman of the New York Post, I am ultimately responsible for what is printed in its pages. The buck stops with me.

Last week, we made a mistake. We ran a cartoon that offended many people. Today I want to personally apologize to any reader who felt offended, and even insulted.

Over the past couple of days, I have spoken to a number of people and I now better understand the hurt this cartoon has caused. At the same time, I have had conversations with Post editors about the situation and I can assure you - without a doubt - that the only intent of that cartoon was to mock a badly written piece of legislation. It was not meant to be racist, but unfortunately, it was interpreted by many as such.

We all hold the readers of the New York Post in high regard=2 0and I promise you that we will seek to be more attuned to the sensitivities of our community.”

I find it very interesting that Rupart Murdoch himself apologize the day after the president of the NAACP said on Keith Olbermann that this treat against aour Black president has moved beyond the "apology' stage and onto the Murdoch's empire must Intergrate so that there will be someone there to teach why things like this are demeaning, racist and should never happen again. But, only integration, open discussion about race, etc must be done with the diverse employees already in place as it is not done today at the News Corp of Murdoch.

Actually Mozell, I believe that the powers that be behind Murdoch has not nor will they ever be able to accept that CHANGE is here.

When the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor the leader of the Japanese military made this remark, "We have awaken a sleeping giant"! that cartoon in the New York Post has awaken a sleeping giant, the NAACP...does any thing happening in protest of this cartoon remind you of the 60s?those who have no idea of what the 60s were about is seeing it first hand. The NAACp is going above and beyond the usual mass media sound bite as they have been doing for too many many years now.

That cartoon was like Rosa Parks getting arrested and the case ended up back in the Supreme courts about the same issue...Free Speech in a way. Rosa wanted to say that sitting in the back of the bus was offensive, demeaning and not acceptable to the African-American. And, the cartoon is----------------O.K?

We as a race must unite and force the laws already on the books to relate to us as a people,(every so many generations-check out our history of Black In America) a proud people determined to get justice by any means necessary.I am so glad that his hip hop generation will learn first hand about FREEDOM is more than a music contract...it is our great and great grandchilden that must be protected. This was the cry from the 60s that has been long looked even by the NAACP, but not the Obamas who refused to give up their direct ties to Africa and pride in the color of their (our)skin.

Mozell for those like me who have been there and done that, that cartoon in the post was in a way a blessing, a gift to our race that is going to keep on giving until Rupart Murdoch like the KKk is hit where it hurts, in the bank account!!!!And, by changing the laws that allowed this to happen in the first place.Oh it will happen again as it always does when we forget our being Black in America is not just a TV special to get ratings from the same people-big business and Wall Street that Murdoch gets his money from!!!!

Please over look my gloom and doom because of my personal experiences in this matter because the actions of the 60s has no effect in 2009 America as this cartoon proves to all of us.

What I mean Mozell is this cartoon will be forced to go to the Supreme court only now it is directed at what we get over our public air waves and in the print media.Ths stress is on this has bone beyond the apology stage. Murdoch will now have to open his records so that the NAACp can prove to the courts that his is not about a paper editor or the cartonnest, but about the segragetion hiring practice of Murdoch that has caused this action. This is going to bring in the FCC, the sponsors and the way they had out liscense for who cand gt ratingsat the expence of actual news of interest beyond bias, prejudice and racism. Yes it has gone past the "I am sorry, I tale the blame" the blame is now on the LAW of New York itself. This is what the NAACp is for and what it does. Too many do not even know this, either...
