Domestic Violence in the Black Community, real talk (225 hits)

I am sure by now that many if not of you have heard of the Chris Brown Rihhana incident by now. Chris Brown was dead wrong and as bad as this whole thing was it has opened up the door for us to talk about the 500 pound goriilaa in the African American Community, Domestic violence. On this weeks show host George Cook discusses:

* The lack of male role models contributing to this problem.

*Black men have to step up and start protecting our women.

*The conflicting messgaes some boys get from some black women about hitting girls.

* Yes, girls hit too and do start fights with men.

*From a male perspective he wonders like many men do why more women don't just leave the situation and pleads for women to do so.

I listened to your "Lets Talk Honestly Show" and I really enjoyed listening to your perspective. Sad as the Rihanna & Chris Brown saga is did you know there are countries in the world that according to their laws allow men to beat women? There is a lot of work to be done, because there are too many conflicting messages out there for example like you indicated with parents teaching their children to hit other children regardless to whether it's a girl. Although we should as parents teach our boys not to hit girls, I would like to take it a step further by saying that we should teach our children that it is not alright to hit anyone. We should as human beings be able to solve our problems without violence of any kind.

It the lack of male role models or the lack of good male role models? Or better yet, did anyone ever stop to think that this is the model that have been given for many males and they are repeating exactly what they have seen for years both in and out of the home. Domestic Violence is nothing new and has been a major cancer in all communities, not just the Black Community for far too long.

I think people, in general, should learn how to resolve confilict with a great measure of diplomacy and respect.

In essence, I think people-- men AND women-- should keep their hands to themselves.

Do you think that this behavior of public Black figures have help reasure many that the African-American male is "VIOLENT". You know like they could not get our President to fill this role so far of the "ANGRY BLACK MAN"

When I this of this making those racist happy, I get very, very, very sad.
