"Maysa'" (4068 hits)

Metamorphosis" is the seventh solo CD from singing sensation Maysa Leak.
As the title explains, she intends to mark a change in her discography.
After her previous "Sweet Classic Soul" and "Feeel the Fire" which were not received too enthusiastically, this time Maysa presents a more polished performance on a selection of Soul tunes that has a warm and breezy vibe throughout.
"I just had to get my expression out," says the singer-songwriter, who is 42.
Maysa is perhaps best-known as the featured vocalist for "Incognito", the London-based urban-fusion collective spearheaded by the great Jean-Paul "Bluey" Maunick.
Speaking about her new project, she says "I enjoyed doing the covers, but I didn't want to do any more. I had some things I wanted to say in my own music".
Although "Metamorphosis" was born out of a painful breakup, none of the 12 songs carries a trace of bitterness and anger.
"I've learned enough from the relationships that I've had to be able to put that feeling into my music. I like to think that people will listen and relate to them, feeling safe and understood because of the way I put them over. Music can be so healing', she says.
The album, perhaps Maysa's most cohesive set, feels hopeful and optimistic.
Variously produced by Rex Rideout, Chris "Big Dog" Davis and the Jason Miles - DJ Logic pairing of Global Noize Maysa's latest offering offers twelve sumptuous tracks that ooze sophistication and which feature notable contributions from some of the leading contemporary jazz session players around today.
Other special guest artists, Najee, Nick Colionne along with hit making newcomer/producer Ronnie Garrett join in to make this CD infectiously cool end enjoyable.
The album is stuffed full of songs that have a jazz as well as that Nu Soul bend to them.
She sings with sheer emotion about true love and all the feelings that go along with it. Her timbre has a smart sensuality to it, and the instrumentation brings each song to a capstone either musically or lyrically.
Best Tracks : "Simpatico", "I need A Men" and "Walk Away".
