Hooray!! Sotomayor has finally been confirmed! (1528 hits)

Hooray!! Sotomayor has finally been confirmed! Yay for OBAMA!

"The Senate confirmed Sonia Sotomayor Thursday as the first Hispanic justice on the Supreme Court. The vote was 68-31 for Sotomayor, President Barack Obama's first high court nominee. She becomes the 111th justice and just the third woman to serve.
In the final tally, nine Republicans joined majority Democrats and the Senate's two independents to support Sotomayor's confirmation...Like Democrats, many of them called Sotomayor's background inspirational. The daughter of Puerto Rican parents, she was raised in a South Bronx housing project, then educated in the Ivy League before rising to the highest legal echelons."

This is a small step for man but a giant leap for equality regardless of color.

Point of BIA History- First NativeAmerican US Supreme Court Justice
Christopher Columbus 'discovered', America and Puerto Rico. On his 2nd voyage Christopher Columbus in 1493 landed on the island and named it St. John the Baptist.
Juan Ponce de Leon was with Christopher Columbus and he saw the Natives showering Columbus with gold. Ponce de Leon returned to the island and become the first Governor. The island was later renamed to Puerto Rico, meaning 'rich port', and Juan Ponce de Leon quickly enslaved the natives to mine for gold. The natives rebelled against Ponce de Leon and many fled or took their own lives.
Ponce de Leon then brought in African slaves.
BIA, Earl may know better, this is the first know instance of African Slavery by Europeans----

And, robert what did the ppeople already in Americas have to do with "discovering" the Americas?(smile)

Oh, and let us forget the Blacks that were 'explores' and the Vikings, etc. A lie does not become a fact by wishing it to be TRUE...but, the truth that is subjective does not rely on facts as it changes at will..say like the world is flat until Columbus went against the church and would have maybe been put in chains or burned at the stake if he had not brought back ...WHAT????!?(smile)
