Award-Winning Actress And Producer, Halle Berry, Was Born August 14, 1968, In Cleveland, Ohio. Before Becoming An Actress Berry Entered Several Beauty Contests And Had A String Of Successes. She Won Miss Teen Ohio All-American, Miss Ohio (1985) And Was First-Runner Up In The Miss USA Pageant (1986). She Was Also The First Black Woman To Represent America As Miss World.
She Modeled For A While, Before Making Her Professional Acting Debut On The Short-Lived TV Show, Living Dolls (1989).
This Was Followed By A Part On The Successful Dramatic Series, Knots Landing (1991- 92). She Got Her First Big Screen Role In Spike Lee's, Jungle Fever. She Played Vivian, The Crack Addict Girlfriend Of The Character, Gator, Portrayed By Samuel L. Jackson.
Berry's Reputation As A Committed Actress Grew, As A Result Of Her Role In Jungle Fever. She Appeared In More And More Films Including, Strictly Business (1991), The Last Boy Scout (1991), Boomerang (1992), The Flintstones (1994), Losing Isaiah (1995), Executive Decision (1996), B*A*P*S (1997), Why Do Fools Fall In Love (1997), Bulworth (1998), X-Men (2000), Swordfish (2001) And Catwoman (2004).
In 2002, Halle Berry Became The First Black Woman To Win An Academy Award For Best Actress, For Her Performance In Monster's Ball. Four Years Earlier, She Won An Emmy, Golden Globe And Screen Actors Guild AwardFor The HBO Movie, Introducing Dorothy Dandridge, In Which She Played The First African American Woman To Be Nominated For An Oscar In The Best Actress Category. Berry Also Executive Produced The Film.
Her Commitment To Doing Culturally Relevant Work Can Also Been Seen In The Films Like Queen: The Story Of An American Family (1992), In Which She Portrayed The Paternal Grandmother Of Roots Author, Alex Haley And In The Movie Adaptation Of Zora Neale Hurston's Classic Novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God (1995).
On April 3, 2007, Halle Berry Received Her Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
