DEAR GARDENERS! HOW ABOUT MAKING PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR'S BULBS AND THINGS? (643 hits)

Two hearts in the grass...

Dear Gardeners: As I spoke with quick conversation to one my sisters, she told me she was beginning to make plans for next year's blooms. Already she has loaped off the savings for annuals-- her fall garden blooms have blooming heads on them. Not only can you begin planting now for spring and summer, the next few weeks are excellent times as well.

Those of you who don't grow, how about making plans for those beautiful lawns. Lawns are a great showmanship to the house! So what if you don't have flowers or roses and blooming plants or trees. Your lawn is also very important. While looking at my own lawn, I need to kill weeds! So I'm hoping to do that real soon. Weeds killers help, but I believe I need a professional to give me a boost. I also was reading where you can create walk-ways with stones and bricks, and setting up lawn furniture to make a garden paradise. Don't you love sitting out on the lawn? I do especially when it's mowed and freshly cut! I take a get-away right at home. Sometimes, I hate to see the summer go! Anyway, leaves will be falling soon enough and if you are going to do any weed killing get started as quickly as possible.

I love to write about beautiful things, and you too being a grower of beautiful things might can understand what I see when I write of loving nature and the beautiful places God gives us is right in front of our eyes. Only yesterday, I saw a Redbird on my fence and I smiled admiring it's freedom. Freedom I have found in loving God's creations. It's certainly is beautiful. I sit and dote for hours.

Those gardeners who are wanting to have a garden party it's the perfect time of year. You can invite your friends over. Keep your foods simple, healthy too. Serve fruit from your fruit trees if have some, or from your vegetable garden. Or cut blooms and place them on a table clothed in nice prints. You can pick up blooms from the local florist too. Make tea and dream you're in an exotic and lovely place. Bring out the grill too!

Anyway, house-planters change OR transplant your pots before the winter, but only if they require it, we don't need any root bound plants do we? Don't forget to bring your plants in before first frost. Autumn comes soon enough.

Great blog Miisrael! I have a nice yard if I must say so myself. I even have a garden in my back yard with a apple tree full of apples although the fruit on the tree was plagued with what I think was a touch of blight since it rained a good bit for the entire summer this year.

Jen I bet it's lovely. Apple trees..hmm. With beautiful last days of summer and fall approaching I know you and your family are in for a eyeful. Apples are a delightful treat, and the trees give off a sweet smell. I've imagined I'm in your back yard garden already. Thanks sweet love for taking me to your yard.

As to your purchasing seeds Irma, you might try ordering them by catalogs, that might work. Unless you have a good friend who can check in another city or town to see what their seed stores have to offer. Otherwise I guess it's sulk and wait Irma...Du..uh! (Laughs)

what you''ve described this sounds spenlid! I've only seen an ocean once in my lifetime and it's totally one of the most wonderful memories I have. "Such a site to behold" are my word for that too. The sunrises and sunsets are indescribable! And..that delicious too! (Luv u)

That's interesting Irma. My eating habits changed over the years. I try to eat more vegetables than meats. Usually only 1 serving of meat a day, and some days I eat vegetables for 3 or 4 days in a row without any meat. I eat fish at least once or twice a week. I like fruits; but I don't eat a lot of them mostly bananas, grapes, cherries and every once in a while peaches and apples. I still like to eat those greens most! SLAP THEM ON MY PLATE ANYTIME! (LOL)

Great Steve as a friend of mine is going to give us some cement blocks to make a better small walk way....

And, I am so glad that you have posted about fall, MIISRAEL...My problem is that I waited too long to buy cabbage and collard seeds for my fall garden, because I love when the frost hits these (all) greens. Now for the past weeks, there are no seeds at all any place I go as usual to buy seeds...all I get is we will have all of our fall gardenings next week.

Oh, well, we should always learn from our mistakes(smile)

Clark seed catalogs have trees for sale and will sent them at the proper time for planting. Your local nursery will have lots of them at a much cheaper in the spring. But, fall is I belive the best time for planting as it gives an extra year of growth.

Now some other news...those diggers love blubs..never buy a tree that has fruit already on it as it will suffer the needs to grown and the shock of transplant all at once.

You can also buy miniture trees. These trees also bare fruit faster than the standard size does.And, please take special notice if it needs a companion tree or that there are the same trees close by for pollen.O.K..

MIISREAL, I watch a lot of our local station's gardening programs during planting seasons(smile)but we must not forget we must garden according to the place we live. Out here we have clay for soil...and close to no rain in the summer where as where I was born in N.C. summer is when we get our rain. I was almost a must to rain on the day we would go to the beach as a teen,LOL

And, if anyone has not seen people running out of the ocean when it starts to rain it is a sight to behold.LOL

Yes MIISRAEL, my home town is about 15 miles from the ocean. I use to say when I grew up I would never eat any fish. My home was almost right on the river and this is were the fishermen for stores would dock their fishing boats. If you would get there as they came to port they would give away all of these fish, FREE that they had not intended to catch. As we raised our own chickens, fried chicken along with fish was something else I vowed not to eat as an adult, because by my teens I had eaten enough of these to last me the rest of my natural life(smile)
