JEOPARDY OR SAFETY --The Home Alone Kid(s) (915 hits)

A thought came to me about the jeopardy and or safety involved in leaving kids home alone. I think it came about when I saw the DVD's on sale at Walmart. I know the story of those movies well and they turned out fair in the end. However, recently in my hometown, a controversy occured when a mother of two very young children left them home alone while she and her aunt went shopping. The children were 2 and 3 year boys. The tragedy was the house caught fire and well, both children are now deceased from not being able to escape from the grips of the fire.

It is certain to me that somewhere along in the thoughts of the mother, she felt they would be perfectly safe while she was gone. Thinking they were locked up safely and that nothing like that could ever possibly happen to her children. Now, the mother is facing manslaughter charges and could very well be sent to prison for at least a 15 year sentence.

How safe are kids home alone? We know that many single parents homes and even parents with both parents-- leave their children home alone everyday! They come home from school with a key and let themselves inside, locking the doors behind them and are left unattended until the parent or guardian comes home. Many stay home along for several hours, and get this; --some are left home alone while the parents work overnight. The ages of these kids varies from ages as young as 3 and up. Perhaps, some are even younger.

It's scary, but it's a true fact. We often looking at ways to cut costs in child-care, but actually putting our children in jeopardy. Aren't our beautiful children worth more than saving than a few dollars it would take to provide some attention and care while parents are away from the home? Don't we think there must be other ways we can provide safety for them away from the jeopardy of leaving the in The Home Alone?

What's your thoughts....Share please if you'd like; Who knows; you may just help someone?

I love that Irma...Going back HOME! People used to be so caring, where neighbors were your child's parents and friends were very supportive with their children and others too. A lot of trust has deterioated and causes reaction to be more highly cautious. It can be sad though, because even persons you trust can also be a mask of deciet when you see some things people do whom they really trusted in. Still, we must continue to do our best for children left alone at home and someone has to have a watchful eye.

MISRAEL, I grew up in a three generation house hold where I never heard the word baby sitter...but his was in the days of no locked, doors and children could play in their own yards in safty...but because sunshine always follow the rain, this resession is causing this kind of three generations homes with no need for a baby sitter, because someone is always home to watch over all of the children and each other.

Sometimes, I find it impossiable to be able to understand, why some peoples can not go or will not go back HOME!!!!!There is not a member of my family or my friends that my doors would ever be closed to and it is the same with them...and, some times this makes me very, very sad instead of glad...

Sister, I am so glad that we as a society no longer believe that "Monster" we should be looking out for coming to abuse our children...We are learning to face the truths about 'civilized peoples' which is a good thing.(smile)
