Every year at Thanksgiving, our extended family goes around the table saying what we are thankful for. Most of the responses this year focused on family. This year mine was a little different. I mentioned family and my improved health, but I was really thankful that I lived to see this country elect a black president. A few of my friends weren't so lucky.
President Barack Obama -- whether you love or hate him -- he is our Commander-in- Chief. He has a beautifull black wife and adorable children. He represents our country well. Many people take for granted the walls and images that he is shattering. They are questioning stereotypes.
While I am thankful for my family, friends and a roof over my head. I'm thankful I lived to see this day with my children. I never thought it would happen.
