[Stanley Miller, executive director of the Cleveland NAACP civil rights organization,...view could put him at odds with NAACP President George Forbes, who is legal adviser to the Call & Post and holds great sway over its editorials. Forbes said in an interview Monday that he stands by the cartoon... "The cartoon is no more unfair to black people than what she did to black people in not securing some type of concern or something in return for the kids in school," he said.] Forbes needs to resign his post immediately! I'm really outraged at the double standard of African Americans using racist characterizations without ever thinking that anyone would be upset just because a black owned paper printed it. If it were some other ethnic group, Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson would be called.

[Turner declined to discuss the cartoon on Monday for this story but did speak to Plain Dealer columnist Phillip Morris. "To be called a sellout because I stood up for something I believe in deeply bothers me," she told Morris. "It bothers me that I'm attacked for supporting reform that I believe is in the best interest of everyone." ...The Call & Post, which is owned by boxing promoter Don King, has dogged Turner because other black leaders – many of whom have influenced politics for decades -- opposed Issue 6.] Ms Turner should allow her conscious to lead her. If the African American leaders who have been there for decades haven't done anything for the African American kids and the community--- then I say the leadership should be changed.

Hold up, this paper is owned by Don King? The same man that swindled Mike Tyson out of more money than the majority of people of all races will ever see in their entire life time. Sadly, this issue is far deeper than what appears on the surface. We live in a world that never wanted women to be in politics in the first place, let alone to be independent thinkers. I don't live in this area and have no clue what Issues 5 and 6 are, but I hope she continues to stand her ground and no matter what they attempt to throw at her that she digs her stilettos in real deep and dare not to be moved.

And, Marquerite, I second your promotion...as for Don King where is Tyson's money?!? But, since the MASS media has never made this a major issue this should be able to answer the where is Jackson/Sharpton in both of these mattes.(smile)
