The Queen's Chair: CBS Cancels As The World Turns (236 hits)

I know my mom's not happy today. The morning news announced that after 54 years, CBS is cancelling As The World Turns. I was numbed by the news. However, I understand.

First, CBS got rid of The Guiding Light after 72 years. Now, its As The World Turns. TV is changing. People don't stay home anymore. Women are working these days. The internet has changed how we communicate. TV no longer only has three stations that you watch.

I understand their decision, but I don't like it. Theatre actors who honed their skills by working on TV will now have to leave New York State to find work elsewhere. The economy is already bad enough. All My Children is moving to the west coast next month.

I just hope CBS doesn't fill the time slot with yet another talk show. Like we really need another one.

How true. The Guiding Light was one of my favorite soaps. All My Children is the other.
