How would you finish this sentence? In my house that sentence would have one answer. There's nothing worse than going into your refrigerator or cupboard and you have a taste for something, you pull out the container or carton and it's empty.
It's a pet peeve of mine. I have asked my children to write on the magnetic notepad the items that we need. I have asked my children to let me know when we are down to one box. I've also asked them to take out things in the freezer so they can defrost in time. None of these suggestions seem to work. If I don't go downstairs and take it out of the freezer; it doesn't happen. It's ironic because everyone comes to mom when they can't find something.
I let my kids know that I'm not the only one that lives in the house and they all have to pitch in. If I can replace toilet paper on a roll why can't they? They do take out the garbage and are slowly learning that when they cook in MY kitchen, they must clean it up. They're getting better at taking milk out of the freezer for their cereal and cleaning up the front room.
A few times, I repeated some of their thoughtless actons. I deliberately didn't take ground meat out to defrost for tacos the next day. I asked my daughter to do it. She didn't. The next night, we didn't have tacos. I reminded her that I asked her to take the frozen meat out. She whined about it. I told her now she knows how I feel when she doesn't follow through on something.
