To my young black brothers...sometime things just not going right. You may find yourself feeling sad about yourself. Parent(s) not understanding and you out there..almost like all alone. First, if things start going real bad...put you first. Say a little prayer to God no matter what your religion. Get a paper...Go to Classified....look for Part time - Help Wanted..........Scan the ones that says wanted now..apply today....then go get a haircut and prepare for tomorrow morning. If address is provided --on a separate sheet of paper , write them down....one after another, go fill out applications. Realize the more the better. If you don't have a phone, get a cell phone that is cheap that you pay by the minutes using cards. On the second day, is your day of calling.....Again, write the adds with phone numbers on a seperate sheet of paper. Then be prepared to set up appointments if you can catch the hiring manager when you call. Then follow up after you have met with hiring manager and ask for the job that you can start tomorrow. Let them know you want the job. Then after you get your part -time job go to a ONE STOP job center and get information of trade schools. Find out how you can enroll in a trade or vocational school not having any money...therefore needing a grant. They will tell you. The Target of part time job and student at trade school is always a life preserver. Then get a small apartment or room share with persons that you mix with....now you are back on the way up.
