REP. TRENT FRANKS, A REPUBLICAN FROM ARIZONA SAID ON FRIDAY THAT BECAUSE OF U.S. ABORTION POLICY, “FAR MORE OF THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY IS BEING DEVASTATED BY THE POLICIES OF TODAY THAN WERE BEING DEVASTATED BY THE POLICIES OF SLAVERY.” Franks made the comments in an interview with video blogger Mike Stark of StarkReports.com. Slavery, said Franks, "is a crushing mark on America's soul, yet today half of all black children are aborted. Half of all black children are aborted. Far more black children, far more of the African American community is being devastated by the policies of today than were being devastated by the policies of slavery." Putting aside whether it's appropriate to define slavery as a "policy," Franks is largely correct, according to a Guttmacher Institute study on the rate of abortions in the African-American community, but the same report found that the higher rate was directly related to lack of access to contraceptives. One hundred percent of African Americans born into slavery, however, were born into slavery.

I saw that clip by Rep. Franks. This will give it some context.
Abortion is one of those profoundly personal issues that every individual has to come to terms with based on their own conscience, beliefs and circumstances.
My opinion is that any woman who is pregnant always has the right to bring that baby into the world.
And every woman also has the right, in consultation with her doctor and her family, to terminate the pregnancy.
It is a perfectly legal option, a personal, intimate decision between a woman, her family and her doctor.
I agree with the Tea Party conservatives on this one when they say "Get the government out of our personal lives."

I did watch the video Siebra posted. And I got almost as worked up as Mozell. That is what inspired me to share this piece, just to give it some explanation and context.

Thanks for sharing that, Steve.
It is one of the most difficult, complicated and intimate decisions a person has to make. Nobody should have that decision forced on them by the US Government.
People can agree and disagree with the procedure--but it is right and legal to leave it as a medical decision between the woman, the family and the doctor.
As those Tea Party people are fond of saying: "Let the individual decide! Get the government off our backs!"

Irma, thanks for sharing, and I'm probably being selfish about this. But it still hurts after all this time, and she told me it hurts her now too, and that makes it hurt worse. You see, it would've been a crack baby. What a sad, sad thing, to trade babies for crack. It's just too sad Irma, not about religion for me.
On a happy note my dear Irma, you have taken me into your family, and I am more pleased than I can say. And I hope never to let you down.

I remember one taime, you now how on tends to tell their parents about some of the things we tought they did not know????well once I was telling my mom about something "I" had gotten away with and she ended up better telling about it than I could...when I akded her ow sh knew about all of this, her reply was < "remember I was a teenager before you" and we bothe cracked up..she would always call her ability to do tings like this < "Mother wit" but would never explain exceptthat I would know it when I get it...Steve , after getting children, I knew exactly what mother wit meant...You havae always got to be one step ahead of your children at all times? and you sure will know when you get it.(smile)

Rich, please forgive me for forgetting you can not read my mind so I must say it.lol
I need to thank you for tose like me being discriminated against when we don't have DSL.lol Picture looking at a movie in extra, extry slow motiong and imigan what the words coming form it would sound like and you will be able to know what watching a video is like.(smile)
but, I can be discriminated roght off the bat when someone ask me to sow my driver's liscen...when I say I don't drive and ow I only have a state I.D. card people have actually me when do I expect to get my driving liscense back...I never occures t them that I have no liscens, because they are not given until you learn how to drive...this is why "I" never get upset when I am asked this nor when I can not get somethings without a credit card...if I can buy it with cash, I don't need it...I d have one for special emergancy.(smile)

Richard, the thing is is that this is the fault of each and ever African-American for allowing us as a peoples hating Rev. J.
