On March 22, Richard B. Harrison Was Awarded The NAACP's Spingarn Medal For "fine and reverent characterization of the Lord in Richard Connelly's play, 'The Green Pastures' [which] has made that playthe outstanding dramatic accomplishment in the year 1931."The Citation Continues: "The Medal is given to Mr. Harrison not simply for his crowning accomplishment, but for the long years of his work as dramatic reader and entertainer, interpreting to the mass of colored people in church and school the finest specimens of English drama from Shakespeare down.
