I love my church. I enjoy going to worship. Unfortunately, the looks on other people's faces might tell a different story. Some members are so serious and even scowl. If Reverend Kenneth Q. James mixes humor with his sermons, most members laugh, but there are some who don't.
I don't know why because Reverend James's sermons and stories help most people get a little closer to God. They understand God's word as it relates to the times that we live in. I like that. He's keeping us in touch.
My childhood pastor, Reverend Kenneth Garner used to bring in sheep or lambs into our church to explain God's word. The little kids used to love that. And he ALWAYS incorporated humor in his sermons. In our church, he played Joseph in the production, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Coat, as a pseudo Elvis. My children loved his performance. If he didn't I would think he was under the weather.
I can only imagine the look that our minister must endure when preaching. The stern, serious faces. The scowls. Maybe even some nodding, sleepy heads. All I know is I can't wait to hear his Sunday morning sermons. Laughing in church? There's nothing wrong with that.
