How Soon We Forget - Health Care Bill is a FAILURE! (171 hits)

President Obama:

"Any plan I sign must include an insurance exchange: a one-stop shopping marketplace where you can compare the benefits, cost and track records of a variety of plans - including a public option to increase competition and keep insurance companies honest - and choose what's best for your family."

Tell me where I am wrong. President Obama said any plan he signed would have to include a public option. He has signed a bill that does not include the public option. President Obama is not a man of his word. Make what excuses you want, it does not change the FACT.

Steve, I don't agree with the Democrats omitting public option from the health care plan either, but you know there is also the case that could be argued, that all Presidents are being told what to do by the real people behind the curtains.

All I have to say about this is we all better start praying more, for all our sakes.

Siebra and Irma,

I have no disagreement with anything you said, and especially Irma about hate being at play. However, the choice to sign or not sign was entirely the President's. He said he would not, but he did. As the leader of our country, he does not have total power, that we all know. But he does have power, and responsibility, to do what he said he would do. And that was to not sign this bill if he said he would not sign it. Nobody but himself said he would not sign it, nor was he coerced into saying he would not sign it, nor coerced into signing it.

Irma,

First of all, thank you for your good wishes for my being home from the hospital, which I failed to say yesterday. I am grateful to be back.

At the same time, I received the disappointing news yesterday that I was turned down for this teaching program I was so looking forward to, as being able to help with this crisis in education. That is a story for another day but suffice to say the School Board of Philadelphia is itself a political organization, and I now have an insight as to why our children are failing and suffering so.

This disillusionment was compounded by the jubilation I see over this bill, reflecting the polarization in our political system, i.e., that it is little different than the Super Bowl or the World Series. Pick your team, the Elephants or the Donkeys. The majority of the population of this country are wing-nuts (I like Clark's term). They may be left hand wing-nuts, or right hand wing-nuts, but they are wing-nuts just the same, and inevitably wing-nuts get screwed. I am not a wing-nut. I don't like getting screwed.

http://indopedia.org/United_States_Democra...

Hence the tone of outrage expressed in my blog. Now let me try now to be more objective.

First, as to the political division of Congress and the Presidency. The Congress makes laws, and the President approves them. It is not forbidden for the President to propose a law, but as you noted, it is Congress that makes the law. In the case of the Health Care Bill, this is Obama's baby, and he stated clearly what he wanted it to be, what was acceptable to him, and what was not. And he used this to gain public support. Once he had that public support, he did not follow through with his promise, but settled for less. Now if it was less than his vision required, he should have vetoed the bill and sent it back to Congress, who could then modify it to conform to his vision, or override his veto by a two-thirds majority.

Why is the Health Care Bill what it is? Because the President is driven by the desire for fame. He is a man who has reached the pinnacle of his career at a young age, who has made history, will go down in the annals of history, but whose political career will end with the end of his Presidency. After that he will do no more good, in terms of the governing of this country. But he will have his fame. Congress, as you say, is driven by the lobby money. But so is the President. So the governing of this country, for the most part, is not motivated by service to the people, but by self interest of the politicians. The people are manipulated into believing that the government cares about them. It is a lie, it is showmanship, but sometimes the people benefit as a by-product.

Here is the fact. We already have public welfare in place. I have a DVT (Deep Venous Thrombosis), a blood clot, most likely caused by sitting at my computer so much. Untreated, a DVT can result in a Pulmonary Embolism, which can lead to death. Fortunately, I have state assistance which pays all my medical bills. I would be in dire straights if I had not gotten into this program this past January.

While in the hospital I became good friends with an African-American lady, who has Lupus, another life threatening disease. She has been in the hospital a month, the doctors cannot agree on treatment, she was released yesterday also, but may very well have to go back to the hospital again. She is on dialysis three times a week. She is also on public assistance, which pays all her bills. An interesting fact about Lupus, it strikes mostly women of child-bearing age, and African-American women are at 2-3 times greater risk.

What I'm trying to say is this bill is a failure because it did not defeat the lobbyists. I am in agreement with Clark, it is a proper role of government to provide health care for the people. But in the case of this bill, it is convoluted to the extreme, it puts an excessive burden on the people, and leaves the insurance industry in place. The government should simply impose a tax to support direct government provision of health care to the people. The people's interests are not being served, rather it is the politician's and insurance industry's interests that are being served. I had hoped for more integrity from our President Barack Obama, as well as from our Congress, donkeys and elephants alike.

AND I KNOW WE CAN DO IT...(smile)

Clark, how did any of these people get into office?!? If the answer is that they got there one vote at a time and these people are doing what they always have done, obey the money and fame and forturne and not the interest of the people than what part of this doesn not fall on the voters....

I do believe the voters get a chance to vote someone in or out of office every 2-4 -6 years or they can have them recalled or tried in open court for abuse of office...or am "I" wrong on this?!?

Me, I stand by that the citizens of this country are the government, and me, "I" voted for Ron Paul any way. "I" did vote my conscience as "I" always do. (smile)

ON don't take back your words as this is like trying to get rid of what makes us who we are my brother. (smile)Now doesn't it feel better not having all of that stress on you, because I know you have the greatest respect taht our president is in the right place now don't you ? (smile)

NOw Steve lets use you as an example...I knew you were applying for that job and I also knew that you had applied because you not only expected to get the job but taht you had applied in good faith that you would get this job....so doyou believe that it would be fair for me to conclude that you only applied for the job to get fame and not because you believed you would get the job????

No Steve I believe you applied for the job fully expecting to get it for teh benefit of you family and yourself and not for fame...and, I do not believe that you should be killed for trying nor your good name dragged through the mud because you did not get the job...I would hope that you tried to get a job at a later time...You see Steve I believe you are an honest person woh would nver sell out your morals and this is the same way I feel about our president about he went into this office knnowing it could very well cost him his life but in teh end he was able to prove taht a person with dark skin could become president much like Hillary wanted to prove a female coule be president and not just for fame but to prove taht this is a Christian country with family values and can rise above the color of the skin...but that is just me.
a proud African-American and I do mean I am proud to be a citizen of this country.(smile)

OH, Steve, do you know of any other president's wife saying they did not want their husband to run for the office of president of the US, because they did not want him killed....why do you believe Mrs. Obama said something like this in the first place or did she know taht he was lying about the public option already ????

Steve do you believe taht there is no greater gift that fom a person to lay down his lif for another person???? NOw do you remember how Mrs. Obama's first words were about how she did not want her husband to run for president because she did not want them to kill her husband?!?

why do you believe she said this...why do you believe that such pure hate and threats on teh loves of so many because they sign a bill or is it also they are angry because there was not public option in the bill?!?

Sure any person who is an American can not go any higher in a positionin this country than being the president or am I wrong Steve...now I will be blunt, Steve do you really believe that our president will not die in office at the rate that this hate movement is going?!?

Steve do you not believe that our president does not know that he has like Dr. King put his life on the line...well as for me, "I" am surprised he was not killed after Hillary called for his death and if he survives the Palins and the Limbaughs calls for his deaths then I will be in shock after all tis is all about the anger over the HCB isn't it?????? ("I" am not smiling over this perfect excuse to make this happen at this time because we are dealing with human behaviors)

and I am even more upset thatt there is not complaint over thousands of people getting killed in war because it does not cost one red cent, but trying to prevent death and human sufferings cost to much...ONLY IN AMERICA?!?

O K my brother now by your own logic...thse last 16 months of back and forth between our congress mambers was a wast of time...our presidnet said what he wanted and this was suppose to be it??? or am I wrong and if I am wrong please tell me where I am wrong?!?

Now please tell me how this bill is a failuare, please be specific, because I have heard all of the may bes and might bes already by the GOP...(smile)

NOw I am only going on the way our government is set up that says ONLY Congress CAN MAKE LAW, not our president and if congress does notlike any law teh president signs they have the powers to over ride it in an over ride vote!!!! Or they can wait until that law causes harm ot just ONE citizens then our courts can take over...

for example Steve, I know those who sell marjuana in ca. sure hopes our laws that says our federal government have no rights over the states sure are praying that these 14 state's attorney general wins these law suits...(smile)

You know Steve you have gotten me wondering what would have our president have been saying all of those hours and days he watched his mother dying while trying to get help in a country of Christians???

I know what I think about my birth mother dying when she did not have to do so as she was so near a hospital with a white Only sign on it... a lot like having no insurance as this is one of the first questions asked.???? sorry that was personal, but this is not much different now 57 years later as people are still dying to satisfy emotional agendas and not the worth of one human life! (smile)

but, Steve you know what, I still believe that our not getting the Public Option right now could be one of the best things for this country...may be we will keep our politicians working on this and not let it go until using it to be used in the next presidential election cycle ...we the alert and responsible voters including our selves in it as us who is the government...

but, right now I think we should be trying to use all of our energy to try and keep those who did vote for something to bring the insurance companys under more control than they have every been in more than 60 years of trying to see that the Teaparty don't murder them in the next few months or days...remember righ now we are being told that they are just a "little upset" over this bill even without the public option...

again I think we should be grateful that it is not in this bill...

instead of trying to blow up a congresman's home or call in terrorist threats to their homes they could be blowing up the Whitehouse...remember all of those planes flying over the White house are called innocent mistakes, right?!?(smile)

JUST THINKING. (smile)

my brother Thumper, please don't get me wrong about what "I" just said...life is about over coming oblstilce and trying to use them to make you a better person by trying to prevent the same things from happening again...my point os pnly always trying to see both sides...

using emothions most to the time i the same as saying "I am sorry" if used as a crutch...I respect you believeing taht our president "broke his word", but I just believe that he is our president and he must do what is best for the country and not his reputaiton...those students in this bill can not pay their tution with his reputation be it good or bad...this bill is not just one thing it is about many, many different things...but even more important is is about saving just ONE human life , saving one family's home...and it gave taht 11 year old his wish come true that no one suffers the dath of their mom at the age of TEN which I can persoanlly identify with and so can millions of other children...

I respect you and your looking at this in teh way you do and, I know you respect my out look...but this is bigger than you or me or the president and, Gkod knows I know it is not about what the GOP nor teh Teaparty and not even the Democrats as I still believe taht teh Public Option was not possible because most of them in congres own their being there to some lobby that is bring pressure on them...but, neither our president nor our vice-president are beholden to any lobby and this makes me proud taht they did their very best to get the public option they were just out numbered as in not wanting us to go to war with Iraq!!! (smile)

Steve, I would like to say taht our president is no longer in Congress and when he was he was over ruled on not going to war with a country which had done us no wrong...

I will say taht we in this country have president and "I" chant (pray) that now that the Dems are in the majority they do not make our president above the law as the GOP made Bush and his administration...

now lets go to your state that voter fo Hillary and now are going to file a law suit like it is not going to cost your state one red dime?!?

Love you my brother but truth and facts and reality over rules emotions every time so doesthe majority RULE and regardless if the president had gotten every thing he wanted in this bill...please don't over look the the GOP said at the beginning in the middle and right now that they were against any thing our president wanted. so what about a 100% N-O- vote that you don't understand that none of this has anything to do with what the public wants or don't want like no jobs because nothing i smade in this country, schools closing ect. that has any thing to do with the health care bill in the first placeor not trying to cause a gas explosion or verbal and actual attacks on members of congress who are backing our president...ANY WAY???!!!!?? (smile)

please WAKE UP as now it is being reported about death threats to the home of congress man Stupak's home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(I am not smiling nor will I give aide and comfort to any thing saying that this is about the passage of the HCRB or not passing the Public Option it is about PURE HATE!!!!

NOw on a personal note about our president what kind of a person morally would our president be if he refused to not condem many thousands or mothers to die early / needless as his own mother did because of his personal pride...

Steve if you are against safving lives even one rather then a politician over ruling what is best for his country and his fellow man for not doing something that can be done later and at any time for you to not call him a lie is iimoral Steve...

and, by the way what do you say about those endless lives and injurys caused by Bush's lie...which was done for winning political respect to get into office say what about the state that Siebra lives in over the lies told by teh government about those dams were safe...please grow up when we are comparing WORDS to human lives or just one life???!!!!. AND, I REPEAT WHAT ABOUT THIS BILL IS A FAILUAR, STEVE?????...
