The Queen's Chair: Masters Golf Organization Has A Lot Of Nerve (136 hits)

On TV this a.m., I was stunned by something I saw. As the whole world knows golfer Tiger Woods cheated on his wife numerous times. He is going through therapy and trying to make his marriage work. Everyone (including me) has had something to say about it.

What stunned me this morning was that this Augusta, Georgia-based organization had the audacity to hold a press conference and condemn golf's number one player. An official noted that they in no way condone his behavior and continued by expressing their displeasure of how he let golf fans and kids down.

A couple of thoughts ran through my head. The first was what a bunch of hypocrites!!! This is the same organization that does not have women members and maybe until about 10 years ago refused entry into its club for blacks. They have done more things to hurt women than Tiger Woods. The only thing missing is the burning cross on their clubhouse door.

My next thought: if you are so disgusted with Tiger why are you letting him play? For them, it's all about the color of green: money. Tiger's absence from golf has hurt in the pocketbook. When Tiger doesn't play...no one' s watching. Golf is including Tiger to recovery from the economic drought of his lack of presence.

The only thing their press conference did was reinforce the negative feelings I already have about Augusta, Georgia. If the Masters are so concerned about their fans's feelings then open up your membership to include people of color and women. Until they can do that, I'm not interested in anything they have to say.
