I can't believe the state of our schools. This past week, I've seen at least six stories on air about kids fighting in school. The most disturbing aspects of these stories? Four of the fights involved girls.
What happened to the days when kids went to school to learn? But girls fighting? What's up with that? Our young women need to be taught how to behave and act like young ladies. Not how to fight like men.
Why do young people think that in order to express their opinion or defend their honor, the have to fight it out? And the weapon of chpoice isn't their fist but rather a knife or gun. Can't blame the media on this one.
Our culture has changed so much. Schools are supposed to be safe zones. They are institutions designed to educate our kids and help them become productive members of our society. They serve as a right if passage into the real world.
In one of the stories, the mother of one of the children, who is now facing murder charges, took her son (to the future crime scene) and said she drove him to confront the victim because they wanted to "squash the situation." Excuse me? Why would you take your child to a fight? And watch him shoot the other person in the head with a gun and do nothing to prevent it?
What happened to solving disputes peacefully? What happened to teaching a child right from wrong? Kids need to be taught tolerance and understanding. I'm scared where we are headed. Babies having babies. They will one day run our world. Say a prayer. When will this type of violence end?
