Works and duties others are close relatives when it comes to peforming phyiscal and mental acts. Works and duties of kindness are acts we do too. Often, the best way to do acts of helping others is kept best in the secret side. Give, help, and aiding others does not have to include large gifts of money, or charitable favors where others will talk and gloat of your giving. Large amounts of gifts that announce you often are done for your honoring among men. God's remind you that to do this you are subjected to his reward in full. Help when you can, do what you can, and find a secret side to giving. Seek to do more in humility of helping the needy.
"Be careful to do your acts of righteousness before men, to be seen by them."
"If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven."
"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the
hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by me.
I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.
But when you give to need, not not let your left hand know what your
right hand is doing, so your giving may be in secret.
Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."
