The Queen's Chair: The Series End of Ugly Betty (115 hits)

Last night, I felt like I lost a dear friend. After four years, the campy, but fun show, Ugly Betty came to an end. In case you missed it, Betty left Mode magazine and took a new job in London. Over the course of the show, I got to see her manner of dress improve, her braces came off, she experienced loves lost, became more confident in her career, and evolved into being a risk taker. Her family also gave her new glasses. The word got to see Betty become such a beautiful swan.

Her sister, Hilda got married; her nephew Jusin came out of the closet and has a new boyfriend; Amanda found her father; Mark gave love a chance; Wilhemnia became the sole editor of Mode and hooked up with the love of her life; Mrs. Meade mended fences with her long lost son; Papi ended up living in that big house by himself, and Daniel realized his true feelings for Betty and quit Mode Magazine.

Besides the fact, that this show focused on a Latino family (the Suarezes), I am a BIG fan of America Ferrara who plays Betty. The fact that she sat for hours in a chair and let makeup artists make her nearly unrecognizable was part of the show's genius. In real life, she is a beautiful woman.

I also loved the fact that the show gave me the happy ending I was hoping for. Daniel flies to London, bumps into Betty, apologizes for not saying goodbye and asks her out to dinner. They were always good friends, but Daniel admits to her (and finally himself) that he can't live without her, but he knew that it was time to let her go. His mother recognized this fact and was definitely pleased with Betty as his choice. (Noticed her big Cheshire cat smile.)

The part that tweaked at my heart strings was the show's closing credits. It ended with the Ugly Betty tagline, but the "ugly" disappeared. Adios Betty! Thanks for four years of memories. I'm going to miss it. ABC, you shouldn't have cancelled this show.
