The Queen's Chair: I Want To Be Like Betty White When I Grow Older (233 hits)

I don't how many of you watched Saturday Night Live (SNL) the day before Mother's Day. I stayed up late to see the 88 1/2 year old comedienne do her thing and she didn't disappoint. She was in just about every skit and I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

There were skits they couldn't show on TV because frankly they weren't appropriate. I cracked up over the NPR-muffin skit, the MacGruder scenes were funny, the Census taker and the twist on the famous Golden Girls video song, "Thank You For Being A Friend." Jay-zee was the musical guest and it was SNL's highest rated show this year.

The reason I say I want to be like her when I grow up (aka grow older) is because Betty White could have just retired and sat in a corner doing nothing, but waiting to die. She chose to live. Her husband, Password host Alan Lunden died of cancer nearly 35 years ago. She has starred in two hit series, "The Golden Girls" as dopey Rose Nylan and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" as WJMP's s*x-crazed happy homemaker Sue Ann Nivens. Can you tell I am a fan? She's been making me laugh for a majority of my life.

I'm delighted the Facebook campaign that got her on the show after her hysterical Super Bowl ad worked. Too many times, this country just discards its more mature population and think they have nothing to offer. That's just a wrong attitude. You can learn so much from our elders.

Just look at Betty White. Her comedic delivery, timing, and tone were priceless. Younger SNL cast members were amazed at her stamina and professionalism. She got a standing ovation from the cast, crew, and the audience. She's proving life doesn't end once you reach 65. Youth may be wasted on the young, but Betty White is young at heart. I like that and that's all that matters.

Here here Sister Marsha. I love and respect most elderely people when I see them unless they are devoid of any evidence that they have matured in their older age. We have some who haven't grown up, but thank God for Ms. White. She is just simply delightful!

Betty White is the exemplary of "The Young at Heart" So full of life and vigor.

--Marsha you couldn't of selected a nicer role in a person to be like like as Betty. "We all are becoming older." She does it with style!
