Thursday, May 20, 2010 was morning madness which ended the day in the death of two local West Memphis Police officers. The officers stopping a SUV white van with Ohio tags were gunned down by its driver. Witnessness say that a first officer had the van pulled over for a traffic citation, when another officer also came by for assistance. The driver of the van then fired his weapon in a shoot out killing both officers at the scene. Fleeing the crime scene later, the suspect was located at the local West Memphis, Arkansas Wal-Mart store parking lot and was cornered by police. The suspect was killed, but not before wounding two more officers in the process. The two officers wounded are last reported in serious but staple condition. Details indicate the man was from Ohio, and was possibly associated with a church which promoted actions of the KKK. It is unclear why the suspect shot and killed the officers. Identities of the policeman and suspect names are not mention in this news report because of respect of their privacy. One of the officers killed was a veternan policeman, and the other was the son the West Memphis Sheriff Department. Citizens of the town are saying it's such a tragedy.
