When women are fathers too...Women are great mothers and they nuture their children with a most indiviual caring. However, many fathers are not living in the same household with their children and then it is when women are fathers too. It is something very unique to be presented with both the role of mother and father; and often so many women are filling the father's shoes. I am not condeming fathers who are there for their children because I know there are many fathers who are absent at home, but are present in their children's lives. For those fathers I highly commend; there is no finger pointing. Actually, I'm not pointing any fingers at any father. Only this is to spotlight those noteworthy "mother-father" who are raising their sons and daughters alone. You are not forgotten by your children and by others who know you're doing it alone. And too... for those great fathers who are terrific mothers!...I can feel you. Alone when women are fathers.. HaPPY FATHER'S DAY TO EVERYONE. --MIISRAEL

This one I do not have a great understanding.
To be a good father, in my opinion,
I have had to use ever part of my being, history and family to have chosen in my life GREAT Mothers for my Children. Without those choses I cannot call myself a father.
LikeWise if a woman wants motherhood she must use ever part of her Being, History and Family to choose Wisely a Man who will be Father.
I cannot see how a woman can be a father?
nor a father, a mother--

I thought there would some who would not understand mothers being as fathers. A woman cannot be a man in the sense of fatherhood. Her role is associated with the father being barren in the raising up of the child. Where single mothers advert to association of taking on duties of both male and female in a household. Providing the living for the children, rearing the children, coaching and administering what a male 's role should be for children whose father is not present. In the present sense of it one would not understand if they have not lived the moment-- or experienced situations where the role was applying masuculine/feminine traits to the child as her/his main parent all in One.
Perhaps, it is not possible to see, often in single parents it is done to some degree.

I'm blessed to have grown up with both of my parents, I believe it's not who raises and teaches a child, it's HOW you raise them. My niece has been living with me for most of her life, and during this time she has never brought a D or F in the house.
Barack Obama grew up without a father in his home, and he went on to become a successful blackman. So did Min. Farrakhan, T.D. Jakes, and Jesse Jackson. This just goes to show you because a child was raised without a father in the home doesn't mean they will grow up to become a statistic. As long as they have morals and proper discipline, they can still become honorable and respectable adults.

No matter how hard she tries, a mother cannot be a real father. She can wear pants and lower her voice, but she still remains other than a father. The biochemical, sociological and psychological relationship between a real father and child is unique to a father and child and cannot be exactly duplicated by a female no matter how hard she tries.

Thanks everyone! Generally I think there is a lot shared here. We know that literally women are not fathers. Your ideas also shared where women takes on the role because so many fathers are absent from the child's life. There is the gap where single parent women make decisions where as men would-- if they were part of the child's life. No, it does not make her to be the man, but merely is necessary for survival that "women have teach when a man isn't present." It all rolls back I believe, to when women are in the role of fathers; when they have to be. If there is no father in the house, she is cloned within her male instincts to guide. We do try hard as women to cover terrritorial intercisons to children without father figures, it is not "duplicating a man" -- WOMEN ARE ALWAYS AWARE THEY ARE WOMEN. Mothers are always mothers. Fathers are not always fathers. Those children who have both are truly blessed. Ye, t those who have one are blessed especially when they only one parent being their mother/father. It is my hope in sharing this fathers really earn the title of being called fathers again. You all have given and shared such wonderful insights.
I being a single mother have done the best I could without a father figure for my son. He knows I am always mother, and even if only in the sense of the word I was his father when I had to be. Much gratitude for all comments.

actually I wonder if people like Jamal are able to see a difference in the African-American being told to "stay in their place" occure to them that this is no difference ( AND MEANT TO BE JUST AS DEMEANING)in when a White person tells us this and when a Black person tells us this...

robert, its a reality thing,( that women are much more then a s*xual objective / EYE CANDY / house keeper, maid, driver, full time employeed inside and out side of the home, baby making machine/ any thing but something positive in the child's life) ...so maybe one day for you will be able to UNDERSTAND, huh?!? ...
but, the beauty of the double role of mother and father by the female is a natural survival metod of mankind.(smile)

Clark what you said is why we must not allow it to be taught out of us the family. extended family's role as a unit where all memers must play a role in the family...and us not settle these needs of aboutions and old folk homes as the answer...
which gets me right back to how during slavery the Black race was more united than we are today.they were not busy living up to being TOLD how to survive as a race but used their own unique culture of a UNITED FAMILY AS ONE AND NOT BY MARRIAGE OR DIVORCE OR SOCIAL CORRECTNESS...ONLY FOR DOING WHAT WAS BEST FOR THE COMING GENERATION. Thanks MIISREL. IT IS TOO BAD TAHT EVEN WHEN WE ARE giving thanks to fathers some men can not see the feMALE as nothing but an object on display for their approval or disapproval...
but this is where having self-love and self respect allows us as proud mothere as well as mother-fathers,nurse, and chief kissers to make boo, boos well, we know our children love us any way. (smile)
