ROLL OVER.... (269 hits)

I know a person who is rolling over and frankly it's all because of that's person's actions and lifestyle..."When you make your bed hard, you just have to roll over more often." This once keen citizen had a very good and vibrate life. One considered a goodl living with a home, family and loving enviornment. It all slipped away when they decided that substance abuse was their way of entertainment and having a good time. The bed slipped from under them and the bed became hard as a rock. Though this is often a similiar story of many drug addicts it's also one's story that hits close to home with someone I know. This person is now considered a homeless-drug addict-- and it's mainly due to their abuse of drugs. Drugs that was once considered a good time is now considered their hard bed. Substance abuse is a sickness we are told and I have no quarrels with that, but substance abuse is also a choice one makes to continue. Substance abuse will destroy a person's life and their bed becomes hard because they will or ...some cannot stop on thier own. I may seem to show little remorse for those who abuse drugs and it's because I feel they actually brought it on themselves. No one makes a person becomes a drug abuser just as no makes any one becomes a cigarette smoker, doctor, lawyer or teacher. These I say are their own life choices. "Drugs are no good." Almost anyone can tell you that. So when there is abuse of drugs, it is that person making a bed to lay in that's known to be a hard one. Roll over...more often. This saying I know can be very true when you are disobeidient to laws, morals and to the preservation of yourself. Disobeidence will lay you eventually in a hard bed, one you've made and one you'll have to roll over more often. Roll over...and over.....soon enough you'll wake up.. It's consequences in choices. "A Prodigal Child can return home."

[Substance abuse is a sickness we are told and I have no quarrels with that, but substance abuse is also a choice one makes to continue.]

I do agree with you, but I also want to pigglyback on the tail end of this statement by saying that there is more to teaching our youngsters to "Just Say No to Drugs", but we need to be teaching them good decision making skills as well as effective coping skills.

I think this (coping skills) hits harder for men, because they are the least likely to reach out to someone to talk about what's bothering them so it is crucial for parents to engage our kids in activities that will help to reduce stress and always have a open door policy encouraging our girls and boys that they can always talk to us about anything.

Yes... anything (even that word that begins with the Big S... s*x)!

Jen: what a excellent interaction to this blog. Teaching good decison making skills. This gives a hand-holding support. How so often we need to hold hands and talk. Loved that!
