Discrimination. So much is written about it, much is said about, much is criticized and sometimes much is done. However, it's never really enough to eleviate its existence. While viewing through the many racing thoughts of my mind that phrase tobbled in and surfaced on my concious. It's a phrase from the movie Forrest Gump, but I'm aware it's a phrase that has been very real in the lives of many races and religions of people. Discrimination has many targets; and though many people may not own up to being a person who discriminates --deep within almost everyone has experienced some happenings of it. If we allow it, discrimination can be controlled and it can be erased from our own individual person. To rid oneself of this lingering element of society we have to truly have a true asset of love. Love is one of the strongest defenses in life. Love has much writtten about it too, and when we love others -- race, creed and or even religious practices will be less prevelant in our actions toward them. Forrest Gump's best friend was Black and in his love for Bubba, Forrest gained a remarkable gift of wealth and love. Bubba's sincerity never turned Forrest away perhaps it was because he knew those words all too well. "You can't sit hear." Fascinating like the box of Forrest's life's comparison of chocolates..."You never know...what you're gonna git." Gaining much wealth through friends is a treasure unmeasurable. Loving those who are different you'll be facing discrimination with showing and finding ..love. You'll find the FREEDOM from discrimination and you'll finally be able to sit down and rest from it. "Sit here...we'll blow bubbles"OOOO ....0000000OOoooooLooooO....V.....E. "Today there might be someone waiting for you to show some Love."

@ Sister Miisrael, [Discrimination has many targets; and though many people may not own up to being a person who decriminates deep within almost everyone has experienced some happenings of it.] Many Black Americans are guity of discrimination against Mexicans and other people of color from African countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, etc. I've heard stories from my African colleauges of their interactions with us and how we behave ignorantly towards them at times. All I can do is apologize for this behavior, because I find it quite embarrassing. Why do we sometimes discriminate against other people of color when we are the first to cry about discrimination from the "the White man"? Puhleezeee.... Sister Miisrael you are so right in stating the following: [Loving those who are different you'll be facing discrimation and showing finding ..love. You'll find the freedom from discrimation and you'll be able to sit down and rest from it.] Today I have so much freedom and I embrace many nationalities learning from them and being embraced by them. Recently I attended the visitation services of one of my patients who died. The dgt really blessed me tremendously as she embraced me with tears in her eyes saying that I am now part of their family. P.S. Ms. Alice may your soul rest in eternal peace in your home land of India.

I didn't even bother to read the entire post, just wanted to get to the comments (they're usually 10x better). Clark, you're almost 100% dead on. However, sometimes we're not comparing ourselves to whites. I know oftentimes, when I compare us to anyone it's usually all races or none at all. Just pointing out our deficiencies. It's kind of like something someone (maybe even you, Clark) responded recently on how Nate Turner(?) had to make the salves see that they were SLAVES before he could get them to act. My son takes karate. I critique every class -- whether good or bad. That's not comparing him to anyone, rather it's done to get him to see his errors and correct them. Just my $0.02's worth.

Craig... keep that $0.02's worth.... I haven't wracked up $1.00 yet.... LOL and now you can't sit hear!!! has 40 hits and counting.... Clark my only problem with the HBCU thang... FAMU offers minority scholarships... FSU around the corner does not.... and peep this.... STILL HAS A BLACK STUDENT UNION.... IN ADDITION TO THE STUDENT UNION.... To me this is sad... But you know look at the schools that had to be opened just for Blacks to get educated... Bethune Cookman ... Tuskegee... and so on and so forth.... and in order to get funding for this Black Colleges and Universities.... WE have to reach outside sources.... Burt Reynolds... OMG always supports FSU... FAMU too has some major stars... but OH Well!!!

MIISRAEl; That was so beautiful. It wasn't about discrimination at all. It was about love. The comments and conversation were extraordinary and insightful. It was an education. My two cents--it all comes down to the deep universal almost instinctive drive in humanity to dling to a familiar tribe ro protection and community. Anyone outside that tribe is looked on with suspicion, That is where "don't sit here" comes from. Just about demographic group on the planet has experience the outsider status and treatment at one time or another. It is based on fear more than any real danger. Therefore, it is bogus. See how many problems it has caused over the millenia? It is never ending!

@ Brother Clark, [Having “rights” is one thing; enlightenment is quite another. Having rights without enlightenment generally undermines the existence of those rights. You end up not having what you think you have, and the culprit is you.] You betta PREACH that word!!!

Hello to All, All of you have given different reasons why Black Americans are backwards as well as being an ignorant people. For instance, Mrs. Shield’s blog implies that Black America’s handicapped is a lack of love. Ms. Jen says that Black America’s problem is discrimination and Cynthia seconds Jen’s motion. Clark believed that Black Americans has internalized the worst habits of the dominant culture in which we live. Which is White America and Clark seems afraid to say it. Amos seems to feel that Black Americans are stubbornly defiant. Richard feels that it is about love, but at the same time, it is natural to be suspicious towards outsiders. I know that all of you are wrong about yourselves, Black Americans. However, I find it interesting that Richard would say this, “See how many problems it has caused over the millenia? It is never ending!” Perhaps, Richard does not understand the significance of this isolated comment I am referencing. Therefore, let me ask this question. What would it take for Black America’s problems over the millennium to end? Surely every beginning has an ending in earth and humanity, am I right. I will give you all a hint as to what the answer is. Sovereignty is the answer. Black Americans must come to brave the natural obstacles that nature hurled at White America to become a sovereign people separate from King George of England’s sovereignty. White America braved the winter, sickness, pioneering westward; exploring the Louisiana territory, taking this huge real estate from the Native American Indians and the list goes on and on concerning White America becoming a sovereign people and country. The same Black Americans must experience to end our problems permanently that Richard is referring. Am I making any sense with you all? So, can anyone trump my answer of sovereignty for Black Americans that would end Black America’s problems over the millennium? If anyone has a better solution than I do then please come from and center and present it, okay Tell me what you think.
