The Queen's Chair: Check Out Queen Latifah's "Just Wright" (390 hits)

If you haven't heard about or seen this movie....see it. "Just Wright" her new film also stars rapper Common, Phylicia Rashad, James Perkins, Jr (the chief from Grey's Anatomy) and has a fascinating cast. The movie takes place in New Jersey and Latifah's character is a physical therapist who can't find Mr. Wright. The nice spin on this is that she doesn't make it an obsession; she's a strong, confident black woman and the type of woman most men like as their homegirl.

One night at a gas station, she meets Common's character who is a ball player for the New Jersey Nets. He has bought a new car and doesn't know how to put gas in it. Enter her character. She shows him where the gas is and he discovers she's a true fan. He invites her to his mansion for a party.

Latifah's gold-digging cousin attracted his eye and Common hunts the cousin down to ask her out on a date. They get engaged. Then Common has a nasty fall during the NBA season and needs his knee rehabilitated. The gold-digging cousin fires his current trainer and hires her cousin, Latifah. She keeps up on all the latest technology and has dreams of being a physical trainer for an NBA team. When New Jersey thinks of cutting him, the gold-digging cousin dumps him. And Latifah's character has to get him ready for the playoffs.

There's more, but I'm not telling you. I just really enjoyed this film. Quuen Latifah is wonderful and Common was a pleasant surprise. The writing and storyline are solid and the surprises that pop are great plot twists. Buy it or rent it...this movie is heartwarming.

I enjoyed this film too. Queen Latifah and Common were a perfect match! And Pam Grier is looking younger by the minute!
