This is my last blog today I swear. Lol. But I just thought since I'm not going to be back for a while to make one more statement that has major impact on us Blacks in America. Lol. The economy isn't going to ever recur that losses it has substained because just like the UPS strike in the 90's that gave way for the Postal Service, Fedex and other shippers to compete other countries are enjoying new focus in the world economy. Many of these countries are for the first time daring to see their economies can be somewhat independent of America's. For many reasons they are making this conclusion but the main reason right now is if America falls any more they don't want to be tied to America's bankrupted situation.
Now on to Black America who as we speak is experiencing unemployment according to the U.S Government numbers of 15%. But we all know these numbers are being reduced for the sake of civility. The actual Black Youth unemployment is somewhere near 50% and that mostly those between ages 15 and 25 whom have the least work experience.
So enough with the dire statistics I'm usually crunching numbers all day at my job and I'm tired of numbers negative or positive. Lol. What are the solutions we as a community or collective of communities can do to off set the future out of control poverty we will experience soon?
I've given great thought to this issue of Black Economics and had ideas upon it's advancement but no clear way to articulate it's solution although the strategy came to me long ago. When I look at Black America I see third world although many African Americans don't consider themselves third world because we live in America but our economic conditions are very similar to many third world countries. In fact it's worse on some fronts because most of our wealth is debt due our enjoyment of our fabulous credit system that loans and charges outrageous interest we have to pay back. So what are the solutions?
I have a great quote. Start where you are at? Accepting our third world status can help us actually. False confidence can hurt us and has in the past believing we are making advancement based upon token examples or the fact one of us occupies the White House. So alright what strategy can we utilize to uplift our pockets. I think we gotta capture the Black dollar first. But how? How do we stop the Black dollar from escaping our communities like run away slaves? First we have to lower our prices since we can't compete in quality sometimes we have to compete with a combination of lower prices and quality service. What I mean by quality is high state of the art leading edge consumerism like what is seen in alot of White communities. We can't expect Black Businesses to offer that high level of futuristic appeal and then expect lower prices as well but we can expect quality customer service, integrity and a pleasant shopping experience.
For example when I used to go to China Town in San Francisco I noticed that in the shops most of the products were ou cheap products but sold at a very low price. This I couldn't fiquire out at first how the Asian consumer could accept such cheap products but it's what's separates them from us. Asians have more businesses in their communities and therefore more jobs, less contact with racists Whites and less stress upon their population. By having their own part of town where there's thriving businesses, food, parties and less contact with Whites they enjoy a world of their own. But we can have the same thing and we've had it before during the Jim Crow when we were forced because of Segregation to shop in our own shops.
We have to recapture the Black consumer and we must do so with very low prices on all goods and services. When I say low prices I mean if you can go into a White Business and buy a loaf for 2 dollars you should expect to get that bread for 1 dollar at a Black Business. If you go to a White Lawyer and pay 100 an Hour you should be able to go to a Black Lawyer and pay 25 an hour. If Black Businesses is willing to accept huge losses and Black Consumers are willing to accept lower quality then we both can sacrifice for the change. In that change will come this outcome. The Black Business will gain a huge influx of customers whom over time will make up for the losses. The Black consumer will have more money in his or her pocket to spend therefore able to buy out right the things his or her families needs such as homes, cars and college education.
I know some of you carpists, naysayers and antagonists have something stupid to say about his idea simply because you like to kick over other people's sand castles. Well bullies don't live long and when they do they die old and horribly with pain of guilt. Lol. Anyway it's an idea that will work on a case by case or business by business price strategy case. It works in third world countries and when you go to China Town you will see alot of ways people do survive in third world countries. I know some of you aren't well traveled and never been to a China Town and you live probably somewhere it's just Black and White. That's not my problem. It's your problem you can't see the analogy due to your limited life experience. But there's something you can do about that. Buy a cheap Greyhound Bus ticket. Lol.
This idea can work however with promotion and without promotion you can't generate the flocks of Black Consumers needed to survive in this business model. The way I look at it no one out there is talking realistic like I am. If they have they probably wasn't successful and or mocked by naysayers and discouraged into oblivion. That's another problem we have to silence fools and those with greedy selfish ambitions and no love for their communities whom would be in opposition to any idea that would change our economies. We must realize we aren't a monolithic people and that some of us are very bad characters with very anti-Black attitudes diguised as sane individuals with legitimate arguments. But like many third world countries have come to realize their are opposition parties amongst them and they need to be deal with while they push forward. Our economical survival is depended upon a collective effort that must not be thrawted by selfish groups from within or without. This economical model can work right here in America it's a strategy and as such must be utilize with tactics on the field to ensure success.
