OLBERMANN BLASTS DR. LAURA FOR “GENUINE BLIND IGNORANT RACISM”—BUT NOT FOR USING THE N-WORD, August 13, 2010 (290 hits)

Keith Olbermann blasted Dr. Laura Schlessinger Friday night — but not for her N-word rant. Instead, Olbermann focused on "what followed the fireworks," what he described as "the genuine blind ignorant racism."

Naming Dr. Laura his "Worst Person in the World," Olbermann criticized the following comments she made:

“I really thought once we had a black president, the attempt to demonize whites hating blacks would stop, but it seems to have grown. And I don't get it. Yes, I do. It's all about power.

“Translation: we elected one of you president, so stop complaining there's any racism left in this country," Olbermann said, saying her comments amounted to, "Haven't we done enough for you people?"

"Any buffoon can get on the radio and shout the N-word 11 times; that doesn't make them racist," he said. "The other part — 'I really thought that once we had a black president this would stop' — that makes them a racist.

Honestly,
I don't know Dr. Laura and if she really is a doctor of anything, but I thought she had a point not about President Obama, but the lady caller was being overly sensitive or stereotypes to be married outside of her ethnic group. Maybe Laura is a racist, but what she was saying about the comments of the N word is correct and that Black people use it but get upset when someone else does. The President Obama comments was off the top and shouldn't been mentioned. Jade should have redirected her back to her question, but because she's so sensitve she didn't. I like Oberman's take on Dr. Laura though. That's funny.

@ Brother Clark,
First of all no White person wants to be labeled a racist just as much as no Black person wants to be called the N-word by a White person so your question regarding the woman caller thinking she would get help really baffles me. The moment you mention racist to a White person, the "it" hits the roof. There are things we as Black people have to be aware of when it comes to White people just as much as we want them to be aware of regarding us. It's a two way street.

Poor Dr. Laura, the best thing she can do for herself is just go on vaction for a while or do a sarah Palin...stay away for interviews or answering the public on their terms and their space. (smile)

If discriminating was not why she is so famous, I could feel sorry for her...but she goes down this apology road too, too often for me. Hell look at how much Don Imus got paid for getting fired!!!!
