Glen Beck rallys large WHITE crowd at Lincoln Memorial yanking it from MLK speech site.

A predominately white crowd made it clear that not only can MLK dream. Glen Beck said he has a new dream. Black Americans own no special right to Lincoln Memorial. Whites are tired of a bunch of Negroes gathering at the nation's capitol making fruitless speeches. So Glen Beck said they wanted to take their country back. It was a blow to civil rights that the cry from children of American slaves for freedom and justice is becoming muted today. Glen Beck and white people took over the lamplight which formerly was reserved for black Americans and Dr. Martin Luther King.

Black Americans need to update our venue instead of repeating the same old lines from MLK speeches. If black Americans do not get up and do something for ourselves, white people will take back civil right gains of the 50s and 60s.

Whites were in huge numbers at the Glen Beck crowd. Together with the news coverage, it made for a day similar to a KKK rally.

Once I turned on the Glen Beck show, and his first line was--

"when you go to colleges and universities this fall, Read the books your professor requires you to read and then Read the books, "the professor tells you NOT to read".

I turned off the tv at that time,

What Professor in any University in the World would tell a student NOT to read?

I realized that GlenBeck was on CartoonNetwork and was not communicating with Future Students or Intelligent Americans---he was communicating with Americans that do not know what Education or Intelligence Is--toonies.

what a glenCrockOfNuts.............the americans, including negros that joined him in DC can have him.

Well, the point there were black Americans that joined Glen Beck.....is a good example of my people having a hard time with "reason".

Steve Williams Sunday, August 29th 2010 at 11:34AM

Did you watch the entire 3 1/2 hours Jamal? There was nothing about civil rights. But there were a number of disrespectful abuses of the image of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. But you shouldn't have a problem with that, as you've stated that God removed his protection from this man.

You are concerned that "your people" were in the crowd. As usual you are always looking for a new platform for your opinions based on generalities.

It was mostly about Jesus and the War Machine that is Imperial America. It cannot be concluded it was about White America or Black America. This is but one segment of our society that was represented here.

But I think we can agree that Glenn Beck is a most disgusting individual, and a hypocrite of the first order.

Have you signed any of the many petitions against him?

I hope I haven't asked too many questions at once. You have a tendency to selective answers, while ignoring the majority of my questions/statements.

jamal Abraham Sunday, August 29th 2010 at 12:46PM

No sense in ignoring the obvious.....IT WAS A MOSTLY A WHITE CROWD. A new dream to take the country back. About 500,000 people is testimony to a general disgust in MLK's dream among whites to something more here and now for the trouble America faces. Perhaps, black Americans should think more about the here and now instead of a dream that has failed to work for black people.

No, Steve, did not listen to the entire 3 1/2 hour speech but rather the newsclippings of highlights of the speech. No matter how you size it up, Glen Beck's rally trumped the MLK rally which is the point to this blog. All the talk is about Glen Beck's rally making what happened at the MLK almost muted.

Steve Williams Sunday, August 29th 2010 at 1:05PM

Glenn Beck did not even com close to trumping Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's speech, a mere 14 minutes long.

jamal Abraham Sunday, August 29th 2010 at 1:35PM

I beg your pardon....at the Lincoln Memorial.....and a 1/2 million white people..including Sarah Palin..Please....get real. Who is even talking about MLK rally....dah...dah

Steve Williams Sunday, August 29th 2010 at 1:41PM

Jamal, regarding numbers, obviously no one did a head count. These estimates are notoriously unreliable, and depend on the agenda of each media outlet. I can tell you there was a peak of about 130,000 watching the live stream on Facebook. This was a reliable statistic because obviously Facebook could tell who was where on their site.

jamal Abraham Sunday, August 29th 2010 at 1:56PM

The "so what" is that whites are getting tired of the rambling hogwash spoken at the MLK speeches. Nothing is new. CNN and all the headline news including meet the press and state of the nation are covering Glen Beck's rally. Sarah Palin may be a nitwit but she draws crowds. The MLK organizers need to learn something new to say because that old rhetoric is being drowned by the white's new dream of taking their country back.

Steve Williams Sunday, August 29th 2010 at 1:56PM

Officially, Beck's permit for the rally allowed for 300, 000 people. CBS has reported that 87, 000 people came out to hear the Fox talk show host speak, while the New York Times reported that event organizers had pegged the number at around 500, 000. As for FOX News, they've refrained from actually offering up a number, instead calling the turnout "huge."

Now who do you, Jamal, prefer to believe? CBS, or the organizers with a vested interest? Use your noggin.

jamal Abraham Sunday, August 29th 2010 at 2:16PM

The expression on the faces of the white people at the Glen Beck rally were to do something to help white people discounting the inequality and injustices spoken my MLK
in addressing civil rights. Maybe, I missed it, but I never heard Glen Beck even mention civil rights. This represents another attempt to push the problems facing black Americans under the rug.

Steve Williams Sunday, August 29th 2010 at 2:21PM

If he did mention civil rights, it was certainly not in the context as we understand it, and certainly not memorable among all the War and Jesus talk.

jamal Abraham Sunday, August 29th 2010 at 3:00PM

Only a signal that white people are getting tired of 'THAT SAME OLD STALE SONG"....sung by those of the MLK rally. Time will prove that this is an indication that ranting of Black Americans about MLK dream is being received by deaf ears.

Steve Williams Sunday, August 29th 2010 at 4:40PM

No Jamal, our ears are open. Yours are closed.

Check the News....only a whisper about the MLK rally but everything on Glen Beck rally...dah..dah

Steve Williams Sunday, August 29th 2010 at 7:08PM

Dah Dah, you sound almost happy.

Harry Watley Sunday, August 29th 2010 at 7:52PM

Hello Mr. Clark,

Why would you want to be a part of White America and upset these people when you could have a portion of this continent to be a sovereign people?

What say you?

jamal Abraham Monday, August 30th 2010 at 11:01PM

GLEN BECK rally skunked Al Sharpton and the MLK rally. No doubt about it.

Steve Williams Monday, August 30th 2010 at 11:04PM

Jamal, lay off the peyote!

jamal Abraham Tuesday, August 31st 2010 at 12:31AM

Glen Beck is a poor speaker, really. But, he kicked the **** out of Rev Al. Sharpton and the MLK rally fans with near 1/2 million people compared to 10,000 estimated at the black MLK rally. It is obvious, white people are tired of the bull**** from these stale black dumb leaders. Either black people need a serious, up-to-date-leader to speak in modern terms or shut the hell up....this was the message of the predominate white crowd at the GLEN BECK RALLY.

Steve Williams Tuesday, August 31st 2010 at 1:23AM

Jamal, why are you against your people?

Steve Williams Tuesday, August 31st 2010 at 1:25AM

Sharpton made my spine tingle, Beck made me spew.

jamal Abraham Tuesday, August 31st 2010 at 2:17AM

The white people were out in force to say they were tired of them dumb black negroes.

Steve Williams Tuesday, August 31st 2010 at 2:28AM

Al Sharpton is not a dumb black Negro.

jamal Abraham Tuesday, August 31st 2010 at 5:37PM

Glen Beck is not even a good public speaker. No matter, he was able to outflank MLK organizers.

jamal Abraham Tuesday, August 31st 2010 at 10:45PM

Luck, you say....Not sure about luck...don't know much about it. But, I know WHAT HAPPENED. Glen Beck rally pinned back the ears on Rev. Al Sharpton and the MLK organizers. Whites are fed up with a bunch of begging Blacks spouting off about a failed dream. Whites want back their country, their Lincoln Memorial and their own issues heard. Further, black Americans they want to go home eat some fried chicken.
