BIA is acting extremely stupid, full of "race" and religion, UNPRODUCTIVE! (179 hits)

Pennsylvania Republicans challenge libertarian, tea party candidates

Republicans with the help of the state GOP challenged the ballot placement of four third-party candidates, including libertarians and tea partiers, running for statewide office in a court motion filed with the Department of State on Monday.

The tactic appears to be an attempt to prevent the right-leaning candidates from siphoning votes from GOP gubernatorial nominee Tom Corbett and U.S. Senate nominee Pat Toomey.

Walter Zimolong, who appears to be chairman of the Philadelphia Federation of Young Republicans, Mia Semuta and Dave Feidt filed petition challenges with the DOS against the third-party candidates.

Their challenges include motions against libertarian candidates Doug Jamison, for U.S. Senate, Marakay Rogers, for governor, and Kat Valleley, for lieutenant governor. They are also challenging the ballot placement of John Krupa, a tea party candidate for governor.

Mike Barley, spokesman for the state Republican Party, said party officials helped the three challengers research the petitions but did not instruct them to file any court motions.

"We can't tell anybody to do anything, especially when it comes to a legal challenge," Barley said. "But were we helpful? Absolutely, and we'll continue to be helpful."

Barley said the party is confident the third-party candidates will be kicked off the ballot.

"The evidence we've seen looks pretty overwhelming," he said.

This is an extremely important issue in American politics.

The point of posting this blog and the previous one on Libertarian candidate Marakay Rogers is not to support any particular third-party candidate, but to show how ballot access laws are used to limit the choices of the American voter, and to keep the two ruling parties in power.

I hope everyone realizes the seriousness of this issue.

This is not Democracy!

Will BIA continue to focus on the divisive and UNPRODUCTIVE inanity that fills these pages with idiotic discussions of "race" and religion, or can we have some discussion of REAL issues and SOLUTIONS?!

Craig, I don't know what that cut and paste is even about. I don't know what is the point of repeating my own words back to me without even a comment?

Craig, I will have to look into this redistricting issue. Thanks for bring it to my attention, And BTW, I posted another blog, apparently Marakay Rogers has been forced off the ballot by the Republican's legal challenge to her having met the ballot access requirements. She cannot afford the cost of losing that legal challeng and has withdrawn from the race.

I will now be campaigning against these Republicans for their strong-arm tactics, and I will tell them in no uncertain terms I will do my part to make them pay for this.
