THE PIETY AWARD GOES TO.... (240 hits)

What a tough decision it must have been for famed football star Reggie Bush. In the latest news Reggie has decided to return the Heisman Trophy he won in 2005. Bush gave back the trophy award which comes tainted with accuastions of cheating and undercover secrets overshadowing his football career. Many think he's just trying to wipe his slate clean and look like a deseriving hero. There are also others who think his giving it back is all an act of piety.

Well, without doubt there must be some sense of guilt- after keeping it for 5 years he's decided anything he's earned that is tainted with unworthiness he should do the right thing, ask for forgiveness and give back the trophy as part of redemption.

This has earned him The Piety Award.

WE FALL DOWN...BUT WE GET UP!

Here are my thoughts: The Award in and of itself, he did earn by his play on the field and I didn't think he should have giving it back. I think that every manager, agent and any other person that gave him gifts should be barred for having interaction with these young (mainly from some form of poverty) impressionable men. These people knew and know all the rules before any of these players and they should be held to a much higher level of accountability for their actions. Instead, I have yet to hear 1 name of any of the gift givers and that is the rule they say Reggie violated, he received gifts while in college and college players are not allowed to take any gifts. If they want to be fair and impartial then many of the people who have won this same trophy would have to return it.

In addition, it does not take 5 yrs to find this information out, how ironic it happens after the NFL team that he works and plays for wins the Super Bowl and now it's about what happen or supposedly happened during college years.

As always Marquerite I welcome your comments! I agree five years the info has always been there from the start....hidden things though always find it's way to light. "Nothing that hidden that won't be disclosed..." Isn't that still true...

THANK YOU. :>)

Thing is, I don't think it was hidden and the NCAA knew this all along and waited to the right moment ( in their eyes) to bring this to the media level attention. Also, the college he attended, their football program is nearly non-existent these days and I believe that if it were doing better, we still would not hear about this. It's shameful the people that gave the gifts are not being penalized for their actions!

Come on! ... It's so corruption going on. It's hard to tell who's honest anymore. I personally really think he should keep the trophy but perhaps he knows Marquerite more better than I about his siutation. If he is content about giving it back I can settle with his decision-- that being he's given considerable amount of thought. I wish him the best.

I know it is way too much corruption going on, yet it's this brother tossed in the spot light about receiving gifts, gifts. Come on now, nothing game related and they want the trophy back. He gave it up because, who needs this unnecessary media drama during football season, when he needs to focus on his job. Here is a very interesting tidbit of info Sister Miisrael, in all of the 75 yrs of the Heisman and all the years of corruption that goes on with these agents, manager, talent scouts and the whole nine. This is the 1st time ever that a player was basically told he was going to have the trophy stripped, considered to be stripped of the trophy or anything that would have hinted about a player losing one of the most prestigious honors that one can receive in their career of playing sports.

Surely we can see this is tainted in more ways than one. The info you've given is useful as I am a bit in the dark about the history of the Heisman.

I know it's a very important sport's award, never knew about the fact it's a first time being stripped from anyone. Deliver it straight! It's sad...
