On September 20, 1664, Maryland Passed The First Amalgamation Law. This Was Intended To Prevent English Men From Marrying African Women.
Intrracial Marriage Was A Fairly Common Practice During The Colonial Era Among White Indentured Servants And Black Slaves --- As Well As In More Aristocratic Circles.
The Puritan Law Did Not Deter Many Colonialists, However. One Colonial Writing Observed That "'Mulatto' Children Swarmed Virginia." Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Alexander Hamilton, Patrick Henry And Daniel Boone All Had An Affinity For Black Women.
After Independence, Race Mixing Shifted More Towards Slave Owners Having s*xual Relationships With Slave Women. A Popular Saying Was: "The Best Blood Of The South Runs In The Veins Of The Slave."
Mixed Marriage Bans Were Lifted During Reconstruction In The Early 1870's. But By The End Of The Decade Such Unions Were Declared Illegal. It Wasn't Until The 1950's And 1960's That These Laws Were Lifted.

Hello to All,
I have often times said that Black Americans are a new race of people born out of the ashes of slavery. I explained myself when I said that Black Americans are the people that resulted from the breeding process of White Americans and the African slaves over a period of 300 years.
Yet, you ignorant Negroes think that you are Colored people, African-Americans, Black Hebrew Israelites and the Asiatic Black man, whatever that is. I will tell you Negroes again! Black Americans are a new race of people that has emerged from the ashes of slavery. We are just as much a race of people as the Japanese or Chinese are a race of people. It is because that we are ignorant is why we do not know or cannot connect to who we are yet.
Mr. Gaddy’s blog substantiate what I have been saying on this site over two years now and still it has not sunken into you ghettobilly Negroes yet. Are not we some very ignorant people?

I find this so interesting that White men were into us before the Slave masters turned an eye to slave women! Thanks for this blog Brother Gaddy and keep them coming because I'm learning so much. I'll pass this one along.
This blog gives so much more credibility to the Harriet Jacob's story that Brother Rich Blogged here last year! White men have been loving Black women for a long time and not becuase of slavery although Jacobs was a slave.

Harriet was sixteen when she began an intimate relationship with a young, single white attorney from a prominent family in town whose social standing was higher than her master’s.
