Elijah Muhammad: One of the greatest Men of the 20th Century ! Why
The depression of 1929 put what few black Americans was working, out of work. The Marcus Garvey UNIA movement had waned and blacks were looking for guidance. Elijah Muhammad begin preaching a message of self help, independance and deliverance. It was Islam coming to America in a big way. Referred as the Nation of Islam, it was similar to Islam as practiced in the East but with clear differances related to history of caucasian, history of blacks and definition of God's purpose. A revolutionary in scope that included diet, women training, men training and entrepreneurship.
Not sure what Elijah Muhammad did on the weekends, I did not care. Not sure, whether he took a shot of whisky every now and then, I did not care. Not sure, whether he had any extramarital relationships, I did not care. What mattered to me is what he done. Muslim temples spanned across the country. A newspaper, banks, schools, grocery stores, bakeries, delivery trucks, factories, restaurants, airplanes, books, albums, communication networks, school buses and a non military army. Black women that the entire race could be proud.
Then, there was the FOI, the fruit of Islam..an army of black men clean cut, sharp as a tack, on every major street corner in America selling the Muhammad Speaks Newspaper. Blacks of all religion marveled at the nation of Islam and what they were doing to clean up the drug addicts, winos, prostitutes, criminals and social misfits among our race. It was the EFFECT of the teachings of Elijah Muhammad which was important to me.
In short, waiting for any black man to just come close to the many accomplishments of Elijah Muhammad would be hard pressed. He raised Malcolm X, Muhammad Ali, Joe Tex and more. Over 1 million supporters and followers were behind this man of God. It is works that spark my attention about any man and on the matter of WORKS, Elijah Muhammad was one of the greatest man of the 20th Century.

Because most of the Family of Elijah Muhammad today are believers in AlQur'aan and the Sunnah of Mohamed(as).
And many other Americans have followed his Family and accepted the Way of Life that Allaah asks the Family of Adaam.
