Millions of people are flocking to Abadiania, a remote town in Brazil, in search of a miracle. They come with every kind of ailment you can imagine—cancer, arthritis, depression—all to see one man: John of God. Some believe John of God, a simple farmer with no medical degree and little education, is a medium who channels the spirits of more than 30 dead doctors and saints to bring physical and spiritual healing. Working out of a place called the Casa, a spiritual center open to all faiths, he performs surgeries seemingly without anesthesia or sterilization. These surgeries mostly take the form of incisions, eye scrapings and nasal probes. Many who have experienced these procedures claim they feel little to no pain, and reports of infections are hard to find. However, the majority of the healings don't involve physical contact. The Casa is also famous for its "invisible surgeries," where it's believed that the spirits are the ones doing the work. Some have even reported finding incisions on their bodies after these invisible surgeries. People around the world have credited John of God, and the spirits that they believe work through him, with miraculous healings. Others have accused him of impropriety. Despite his detractors, those whose lives he has touched say he is a simple man with a gift. John of God charges no fees and takes no credit for what he does. He says it is the power of God working through him. Question: Do you believe this to be God's work and do you believe in Miracles? posted by: Anita http://www.girlfriends.connectplatform.com

I saw this segment yesterday on Oprah. I believe miracles happen, but to say that John performs miracles is a bit far reaching.

I hear you Sista Jen, but apart from him performing miracles, its the thought of actually being able to do something like that. Being given that gift is simply amazing. I believe its a matter of faith, so yes I do believe he believes he's able to perform miracles, but I also believe you and I can also perform those same miracles, but because of doubt, unbelief our eyes are closed, well I don't know about you, but I do know if people had the faith of a mustard seed, nothing could be impossible. God is Truly amazing!

Yes Ms. Irma, Faith is the key, but I believe that Faith is the first step only. Faith without works is dead, so before I step out on Faith, I have a plan, where others just do. Thats the difference between me and them. If I could get there everything would be complete, know what I mean. How deep is your faith?

Ouuu Ms Irma, that's deep. Didn't even know what that religion meant. Had to look it up. I think sista Angela Bassett is a practicing Buddhist in the movie waiting to exhale. Is it anything like that. Who do you pray to or believe in?

See Brotha David, this I believe is one of society's problem. We all believe that the God we serve is all exclusive and there for only those that believe certain things. Why can't he be 1 God, having a different name according to one's belief. You may see him as Lord, another as Allah etc, but the point is no matter what we call him, he still serves one purpose. People differ on how he came to be, where he originated from, but he still serves one purpose. I hear people on here preaching about they are the chosen one and I know its for the purpose of proving ones identity and yes I do believe Our Lord and Savior was black, but I also believe that due to miscegenation, there are many that don’t look like us who are still descendants of Adam or Adham. He still serves one purpose, so yes I believe that John of God believes that he is performing miracles due to his faith in the God he serves.

Ouu Sista Irma that's deep. I got to read over your words and meditate on them for a minute to get the core of what you said. God's been showing me so much lately, I've got a lot of information going round up there. Usually I just listen to what you guys have said, but lately I've been putting my two cents in. Think I'll go back to listening. Learning alot about people in general, their thoughts and concepts, Things they are passionate about and one thing is religion. Its very enlightening.

Thanks so much Sista Irma, but I try to be as positive as possible. There’s no need for anger and hate. My sisters call me the soft one in the family. To me that’s a good thing. I’ll leave the hatefulness for others. But I do post controversial stuff, the reason being is for knowledge, to pick people’s minds, get their feelings on certain subjects and to learn from others. My History: This is hard, “Im a very private person. My mom was a pastor, and we formed a relationship when I was about 10, so I grew up in a Christian household. She never forced religion on me, even though she persuaded us to go to church on Sundays. I learned about God in church, but I didn’t know him on a personal level until around 44. Even though I was raised a Baptist, I became a Muslim at about 15. I joined the a Muslim community and lived there until my mother a strong and well connected woman in NY came and what she calls rescued me from that cult I was in. LOL. Anyway, I learned a lot and stayed with the Muslim faith for a while, even after my ex-husband entered the Airforce and we traveled a little. I disengaged myself from Islam a couple of years later and have been on a quest for knowledge ever since. I’ve tried a few religions which leads me to this conclusion. God is omnipotent. He’s means something different to each of us, no matter the race or religion. I know there is a higher being greater than myself and as long as I keep him at the forefront of my life, everything else will fall into place. I’ve listened to a lot of people on this site, some very angry, some arrogant (thinking they know everything), and some very militant, and yes I do believe you should find out about your heritage and history. I love my beautiful black people with a passion, but I don’t believe God wants us to be an angry, hurtful and hateful people preaching all this hate in the world. That makes you no better than the devil. I’m a very peaceful person. I don’t argue with people about religion. I’ve found that they will believe what they want to and there’s nothing you can say to change their way of thinking. Right now I just meditate, and ask God to guide my footsteps. I just started these videos that I’ve collected on Black Biblical History. Its truly confusing. It may take years to get through all this stuff I have.. I just watched one on Dr. Ben live in Egypt and I am just amazed at what we once were. Truly Amazing Black People. I truly believe Sista Irma, that LOVE, FAITH and especially PEACE is part of the answer to what we are searching for. I’ve saved your site and will review it as soon as possible. Thanks again for your heartfelt words.

Yes,Yes,Yes, we are babies, some a little more knowledgeable than others. Thats why there's no need to treat others as if they are beneath us. Instead we should teach that person without malice and give them the same knowledge that we have acquired. That's why I am on such a quest for knowledge. I am so curious, sometimes its too much for my own good! LOL, Good teaching Sista Irma. Will keep those words close to my heart in my journeys. Thanks Sista

@Anita, I have used my identification of NDB, because it puts you in charge of your own life. "I" will use Tina Turner asone of the most public examples of taking back your unlimited powers!!! She is not the same person she was before she got this kind of faith in her own powers...(smile) and "I" did this because in Americ alone there are 142 different religions... actually Anita is is very hard to get a lot of people to understand that BUDDHA ACTUALLY MEANS ONE WHO HAS BEEN ENLIGHTEN TO WHAT CAUSES SUFFERINGS...THE CAUSES OF SUFFERING IS : LIFE, SICKNESS, OLD AGE AND DEATH ...AND TO BE IN THE STATE OF BEING A BUDDHA IS TO BE HAPPY THAT YOU HAVE OVER COME ALL OF THESE OBSTILCES THAT KEEPS ONE FROM BEING HAPPY IN LIFE PROOF...WE BELIEV TAHT WE ARE A PART OF THE WHOLE UNIVERSE AND IN THIS CONNECTION WE DON'T HAVE ANY WAY TO REACH ABSOLUTES ON KNOWLEDGE ABOUT ABLSOUTS BECAUSE WE CHANGE MOMENT TO MOMENT IN OUR THINKING, ECT.... i HAVE SAID THIS TO SAY...WHO YOUR PRAY TO OR FOR AT IS UP TO YOU BECAUSE ONLY YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS THE MAKES YOU HAPPY PROOF...WE CHANT (WHILE WE PRAY OR THINK OR WHAT EVER AS THERE IS NO SET TIME TO CAHNT...OUR CHANT IS... NAM (WE DEVOTE OUR LIVES TO A MISSION OF PEACE AND HAPPYNESS FOR OURSELF AND OTHERS) MYHO( LIFE IS A MYSTERY) RENGE(CAUSE WE MAKE WILL HAVE AND EFFECT) KYO( SOUND AS SOME PLACE SOME WHERE AT ALL TIME WE ARE IN UNITY SEEKING PEACE, UNITY ALL OVER THE UNIVERSE) NAM-MYOHO-RENGE-KYO IS WHAT WE CHANT(PRAY) OVER AND OVER UNTIL WE ARE SATISFIED) we say that we are a philosophy or a VALUE CREATING SOCIAL ORDER...AND WE FULLY RECOGNIZE THAT ONE OF THE HARDEST THINGS ONE CAN DO IS TO BE FULLY HELD RESPOSNIBLE FOR THEIR OWN ACTION...THENSELF...AND THAT WE CAN NOT SEE ANYTHING IN OTHERS THAT WE DO NOT FIRST SEE INOURSELVES...AND THAT EVERYONE BECAUSE THEY ARE A MEMBER OF THE HUMAN RACE IS DUE RESPECT FOR THIS REASON... AND IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO LEARN MORE PLEASE GO TO ...again it is your life and it is under your total control. (smile) WHO DO i PRAY TO? IS NOT THE ISSUE WITH ME IT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAT "i" WORK TO THE BEST OF MY ABLITY TO MAKE MY PRAYERS ANSWERED...i BELIEVE THAT i MA A VERY IMPORTANT PERSON WHOSE MISSION IS TO LEAVE THIS PLANET BETTER THEN i FOUND IT AND TO BE HAPPY AND CONTENT DOING THIS MY OWN SELF...AFTER ALL "i" AM MY OWN SELF AND iNEVER, EVER TURN MY LIFE TO ANYONE ELSE TO DO MY MISSION IN LIFE. (SMILE) NO ONE OF THE FIRST THINGS i SAY TO THOSE EVEN BEFORE THEY GET OVER THE SHOCK OF ME BEING A BUDDHIST IS NO, I HAVE NO BUDDHA GOD...THEN I EXPLAIN WHAT THE WORD BUDDHA MEANS...BUT SOME ARE STILL AFRAID THAT I WILL GET THEM SENT STRAIGHT TO HELL. LOL (SMILE) ...THANKS FOR LISTING...(SMILE) WWW.SGI-USA. ORG (SMILE)

No, love in food I am bad , because I take three different kinds of blood pressure pills and still eat pork and smoke...and I do know taht when I manage to run out of excused to continue to do this, I will stop. lol (smile) Myyoungest daughter don't eat mean (nor does she cook if she can get out of it)...and she is like all of my friend to those who are vegans as they all say they just lost all taste of meat, fish ect. No love, my being a NDB puts no restrictions on our own actions as this is left to us to be responsible for things like having strokes because we went into pretend mode that this will only happen to someone else and not me. lol (smile) "I" can neve lie to m yownself in this way of living my daily life....

@Anita, thank you. Your comment is a perfect ecample of faith and wisdom all rolled in one. example, you know how to use your natural survival instincts because you know how to balance your need of privacy and shyness by listening and speaking on your own terms. This is very hard to do and why "I" believe most people if they would just take the time to learn that dialogue and arguments are not the same... dialogue is to exchange information and unity...arguments is to cause harm, hurt, division, ect. "I" am of the mine and say this to others a lot..."IF YOUR GOD DO NOT REQUIRE ME TO DISCRIMINATE THEN YOUR GOD IS MY GOD ALSO. THIS IS BECAUSE I ALSO BELIEVE IN A HIGHER POWER...AS IN ALL OF THIS WAS HERE WHEN I GOT HERE...I like things simple and unnessaryls complicated, stressful and offer even the silghtest cause of disunity and no peace on earth good will towards mankind. good is a balance to bad as in truth is subjective to each of us as we are all individuals... Anita, you are peace and "I" have full faith in you and your mission in life to leave the planet a much better place then your found it as you so very well stated in your last comment...thank you and I repeat..."ANITA, YOUR GOD IS MY GOD". @ Anita, I am a 22years now practicing Nichiren Daishonin Buddhist...besides our being responsible for our own individual actions ...we believe in these three things... 1. Faith 2. Study 3. Practice My faith is so strong until I do believe that "I" was born with these three ideals...and that is learning how to be happy, safe and secure and to keep trying to learn (study) how to remain in this life state without abusing others...in practicing how to survive as a natural human behavior.
