GM cannot afford to fail with the Volt's lithium-ion battery pack. The company steeped boldly in July of this yar, announding that it will offer an eight-year, 100,000 mile warranty for the battery. What their engineers accomplished over a short period of time--when you take into acount the batteries, suppliers, electronic controls, manufacturing and dealer training, one must admit it is quite impressive.
GM engineers have also tested outside the lab. They have put over a million miles on the real-world vehicles including Pikes Peak, Death Valley, the mountains of California and the streets of LA.
I will be reviewing the test reports of this Volt battery as it may be useful for the Starship vehicle of which I am manufacturing.
