One of my friends from college turned 50 today. (I still have a few years to go before I hit that milestone.) Om his Facebook page, he shared what he has experienced on this Earth during his existence. I started cracking up.
His entry read as follows:
"I made it to the half century mark. Let's go over the things that have occurred in the last 50 years... 8 track tapes and players (our kids wouldn't know what the hell that is)...45s, afros (they are trying to make a comeback), platform shoes, floor model TVs with the stereos on top, 49 cent gas, 15 cent White Castle Burgers, house parties where no one got shot, the infamous cassette player, the one where you pressed down the red and the black button at the same time trying to record off the radio and wishing the deejay would shut the hell up so you could tape the whole song...I'm sure I left off some stuff.
LMAO. Those were the days. I LOVE being old school. I wouldn't trade those days for anything in the world. Yet, they are long gone. And just remind me of a time when everything was so simple. We didn't need FB, portable phones, Twitter, etc. We played outside and turned out OK. You could stand up at a concert and dance. lol
My birthday is next month and I'm looking forward to it. I don't act, look, or feel my age. My kids will tease me about being older. Haven't decided what I'll do yet. But I do know as Con Funk Shun sang in a recent concert: I'm going to have Fun Fun Fun.
