Although reading your spouse's emails may seem like a harmless way of snooping, one Michigan man is finding out that it could lead to serious charges, and possibly jail time.

The accused man, Leon Walker suspected his wife Clara of having an affair after finding calls on her phone bills to her previous husband. His suspicions were confirmed when, concerned with the welfare of their one-year-old daughter, he checked his wife's G mail account.

"She kept every password she had in a phone book. For the welfare of my daughter and stepson I had to check. And in going in there I confirmed everything I feared and then some," says the Michigan man.

According to prosecutors however, Leon Walker broke into his wife's account several months after she filed for divorce. Clara Walker said her husband installed a tracking device that allowed him to track her e-mail activity. If convicted, Leon faces up to five years in prison.

This IS a crime. It's the same as if your spouse opened a letter addressed to YOU that was in your mailbox.
