"Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor only a fool insists on quarreling. Proverbs 20:3"
If there was one thing I learned in 2010, it was that you couldn't pay me to be President of the United States of America. However, I could walk in his shoes: not the way you think. President Barack Obama showed his critics exactly how strong he was. He took all types of cheap shots and hits for such things as not showing enough anger over the oil spill in the Gulf, having his policies not work fast enough to bring the economy along, questioning his decision to not have his children attend public schools, and being criticized for taking his wife out for a "date" in New York City, and going home to Hawaii (his birthplace) for a vacation. There are those who still want him to "deny" him of the Presidency.
Despite this and other brouhaha, the President put on a calm and reassuring front, he didn't lash out at his critics. I don't think I could have done that. Especially when the shots attacked my family. First Lady Michelle Obama asked her husband how he could take these hits after he was working on behalf of the American people. His reply. He knew what he was getting into when it comes to politics and that the outcries and comments came with the job."
Wow! Most of us feel the need to speak out, defend ourselves, and explain our actions. As leader of the free world, the President sees a Bigger picture than we do. What our world could be and its future. We sometimes see what we want to see. Currently, we see unemployment numbers rising, more applicants filing for economic help, , the number of people losing homes, and the rising requests of those in need of food.
Think about it. When you get into a disagreement with someone, do you really listen to what they are saying or just react? In an argument, do you have to have the last word? Do you consider that winning?
Our bodies don't really need that type of stress. We could do with unnecessary strain on the heart and rapid beating. Too much adrenaline isn't a good thing. Not to mention increased breathing and excessive blood supply to the arteries in your vein. Too much adrenaline could lead to death. Then who wins?
You may not like his method, but President Obama likes to collect all the facts before coming to judgment. We should remember that God waits until a man has died before passing judgment. What makes us think that we could or should do that beforehand? You can't judge a book by its cover. Sometimes watching and saying nothing can tell you more about a person than you think.
