Increasing corporate focus to reduce fuel cost as demand increases is to redesign mobile hydraulics. Manufacturers have pointed out that 60 to 70 percent of the fuel burned in the aggregate of most industrial machines is consumed by the hydraulic system. Thus, more companies looks to hone in on its hydraulic system efficiency. They view hydraulics as an important part of the future because its hard to find a technology with greater power density that is continuously variable.
Caterpillar, a manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, has begun using hydraulic demand fans which are electronically controlled. Computation fluid dynamics also helps scientist to understand where losses occur, and to improve their design to reduce losses.
