Just this week I was asked to give some tips for first time techiques for meditation. Being that I am a advocate meditator I gave the following suggestions for first timers or those who which to begin a daily meditation.
For the very first timers:
Find a space to hold your meditation :--
your favorite chair, in your automobile or perhaps in
a chapel room or the smallest room in your house.
You are best to feel more traquil if you are abosolutely alone
without distractions of outside noise and interuptions.
Uplug all phones, turn off televisons, radios..ect.
[I suggest quiet spaces for beginners and later soft music or candles]
Unless you want to kneel, first timers can start in a sitting position,
on the floor or using a chair.
Clear all thoughts of outer world, fill thoughts with the inner spirit of yourself.
Behold God around, inside and among your being.
Feel his presence among you.
Speak inside yourself in spiritual prayers.
Pray the Lord's Prayer {if you have no thoughts of what to pray.}
Repeat this same process several times for at least five to ten minutes
Let your meditation of God be real and sincere.
Ask nothing in return, but receive the calmness of soothing closures inside you.
First timers may feel a little odd, but continual meditations will give
you a more confident growth meditation each time you set aside minutes, then with more hours of meditation you'll find strength growth.
For a verse of scripture to your
meditation you may consider using this one: {or one of your own favorites}
Let him eschew evil, and do good'
let him seek peace, and ensue it.
[1 Peter 3:11]
May this help and aid any first timers and may those of you who meditate regulary.
Let the Words of this meditation be acceptable in thy sight O' Lord my strength and my redeemer. AMEN
Blessings.
