20 STATES SEE UNEMPLOYMENT RATES UP! (695 hits)

Washington, DC
January 2011

The Labor Department stated in it's recent report that unemployment rates rose up in 20 states in the U.S. The Labor Department also reported that the job market hasn't improved much as the economy is growing. Financial experts predict unemployements rates will likely remain high. While the unemployment rate rose in most states the report also mentioned that 15 states saw employment rise and the other remaining states held steady about the same. Although most states didn't add new jobs North Dakota unemployment rate of 3.8 percent was the nation's lowest followed by Nebraska and South Dakota.. With layoffs slowing decreasing statistics show hiring has yet to increase in most states.

Wow. I really hope that the Congress will put aside their own interests and allow themselves to think about the Amercan people who sent them to Washington in the first place.

@Dorothy. You hit the "nail on the head". I read an article many, many years ago which talked about the future of America. The loss of jobs, the divide between the rich and poor, and the intentional "dumbing down of America". It also stated that jobs, as we once knew them, will no longer be. America will become a service industry and corporations will leave for better globalized positioning. Only the business owner will have a chance at survival in the US. I think we're seeing the beginning of this.

I agree with you Dorothy and Anyar, I think we've failed a supporting ourselves over numerous ways. In small businessess and neighborhoods hiring. We have to do it even if it's one by one. Starting with our own selves. Change only takes one person to make a move. Interesting...we can help with what we can even though it may seem small just making that small contribution of support is a vital beginning. We have to pass that forward.

Now that the stock market is up (and if not only from higher gas prices) hopefully this will help the job market. (smile)
