A head on collision between a cargo and passenger train caused a heavy damage and wrekage across a frost covered field in Hordorf which is about 125 miles southwest of Berlin. This was reported as one of the worst train accidents in Berlin's history. Authorities reported that the two trains were traveling along the same track when they collided in a mangled and deadly crash. The death toll was said to be at least 10 people, but that could rise. The collision's impact was so forceful that the passenger train was catapulted off the tracks into a display of labyrinth. Nearly 200 police and rescue workers were sent to assist in aiding in the terrible crash site. Authorities are not certain at this time what possiblities led to the shocking destruction of trains. Although there is speculation of human error. Travel speed of the passenger train was reported as being at least 100 miles per hour. Neighboring villages and towns said they heard the crash sounds over four miles away. Dense fog caused some delay to relief aids. It was reported also that many of the passengers and or victims of death did not have proper identification leaving many relatives wondering if they family and friends were among the casulalities. At least 23 were reported injured.
