Irma, I was on a radio show, Sunday night, discussing Black History. I told the host I, too, am old enough to remember when it was Black History "Week." I also remember that our Black teachers, who were then, in a newly integrated southern school, were afraid to to talk about Black History, even during that week. My passion for our history began because of Mrs. Blanche Rivers, one of my later teachers, who brought me books from her own home library, to read.

Brother Gaddy,
God rest Ms. River's soul for planting the seed for your flourishing love of Black history and your blog today is an awesome choice to start off Black History Month.

tHANKS GADDY, because "I" have always made sure that my children and my grandchildren get for birthdays and "just becauses" days, books about our true history...

but, working on the polls each election we are given pens with the election dates on them...I have my 2008 pen in my African room and had at first no idea how to leave this historical memento in my will...I have now decided to leave it to the AME ZION church in my home town...

I so wish Icould leave it to my school I graduated from, but it was blown up to prevent us, "violent students" hoLding sit in strikes in drug stores that year so we could not graduate ...

NOT TO WORRY AS WE HAD LOADS AN LOADS OF BLACK CHURCHES. "YOOOOOOOOOO"
