IS BECOMING A BIG SHADOW!

Since December 2010 the City School Board, Memphis City Council have dedicated many hours over debating to finally let the people of Memphis decided if they want to surrender the MCS Charter over to the Shelby County School System. Finally getting the election date to be March 8, 2011 they felt all the ducks were getting in a row. Until they discovered earlier this week the State of Tennessee wants to have a bump of that charter’s direction. Governor Bill Halsom now says wait a minute we want to see if the state will be able to get it’s hand in on the decision’s over turn. The state of Tennessee is looking for a proposal that may possible give the State the take over in the MCS charter. Since it appears that no certain plans are made as to what may happen in terms of how the new specifics will affect teachers or students if the charter is turned over by voters. Memphians are left with no idea what could happen as pros and cons of the merger to consolidating the school systems. This leaves room for some planning to be put into place so the governor has asked for a proposal to be made up and presented to him by February 17, 2011. Some city council members are upset because they feel the state is bumping in uninvited on floor of the MCS business. These members want to keep the state government out. However, they’ll be coming dancing from shadows drawing up a plan.

BRINGING CRIME DOWN TO size

Recent crime reports listed crime in Memphis has decreased since those reports of 2006-2010. Overall crime is down is Memphis since the Blue Crush Real Time Crime Center has been in effect. The Crime center reported that 24% of all crime is down compared to last year’s over metering of violent crimes. The center also reported that car thefts were down by 40% murders went down 22% and robbery is down by 39%. Blue Crush accredits it’s zoning in on high crime areas of the city and closing up blight properties where criminals can hide to much of it’s success along with neighborhood watches and citizen and church leaders and community involvement. There is still a high crime rate among juveniles but Director of Police Larry Godwin said programs are set in place like youth forums are aimed at lowering youth crimes. This has been the best decrease in crime over the 2006 to 2010 yearly reports. The Blue Crush Real Time Crime Center is dedicated to continuing lowering crime to make Memphis streets safer than ever.

MCS CHARTER HAS TWO SENATOR’S BILL WAITING
IN CONGRESS!

Another shadow showed up in the ruling and governing of MCS charter. Two Tennessee senators have entered bills to congress to stall the charter for Memphis City School. Of course once again this add stalling to the charter’s turn over and even may have bearing on the Memphis voters making their selective decision on March 8th. The controversy is picking up the tempo. Will these bills get passed? That’s a shadow left to be looked into. One bill states consolation should be a state issue, the other would stall the consolidation voting so that Shelby County voters can also voice their votes but would hold everything up until a year.
You see how this "charter of shadows follow you"… I didn’t get that move?
