The Tennessee Department of Safety Homeland Security will be updating the way Memphians and Tennesseans to carry their driver’s licenses. To prevent scanners from stealing your identification a new look for your licenses applies in store. The new licenses will have a digital photo and signature and will be entered on a database. Officers will be able to scan your license instead of calling by police radio. In addition, the new look makes it one step ahead of scanners in duplicating your information because the new looks makes it more difficult for them to scan or duplicate. Those who already have licenses will keep their present ones until their expiration dates are up. These new licenses will become available at the end of April 2011.
The digital strings attached will offer more protection from scan thefts of licensed drivers…

The Mayor of Memphis A.C. Wharton may ask such question as he showed an irritated view of the news of a theft operations ring in the General Services Division of the Memphis City Government. The operation theft ring was carried out over several months and perhaps even longer as workers at one of the impound vehicle stations were carrying strings of thefts with car stereos and speaks and other vehicles parts. Sources stated that the manger/director of the station allowed employees to take their pleasure in thieving from cars of motorists impounded at the station. The mayor was irate saying that it’s a shame to have those who are supposed to protect become as thieves. The director has been released from work and some of the thieving workers are on leave with pay until a through investigation is finished. Prosecution of thefts may follow them.

Two fugitives were caught after two week’s search finally comes to an end. The two fugitives escaped from a work release were caught in Memphis just days ago. The two escaped from a Louisianan prison and led a string of car thefts, murder and escape from a federal prison. The two led law officials on a four state chase including Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama. They also are accused of murdering a Alabama man in a car jacking incident taking place in Mississippi. Their string came to an end on Tuesday March 15, 2011 when they abducted a stolen company truck of a Mississippi park commission worker tying him up and a shed. The man managed to get loose and contacted authorities of the duo’s theft. The two were apprehended at a local Memphis intersection of Raines Road and Hacks Cross. Now in custody they will be facing murder charges along with other strings of things.
The fugitives' run had Memphis residents a little watchful since from the time of the wide spread escape string..they left very few leads of their whereabouts…

Residents and the group of the Leadership Council of Cordova met last evening to voice, shout and add their string to halt the opening of what they called a “Strip Club” in their residential area of Cordova. The owner Steve Cooper has the property in sight called “Stella Morris” as one of his future places for a dance club. The citizens of Cordova are saying they’ll fight to keep Stella from having that groove! The people voiced that they are afraid of the crime, drugs and prostitution rings that could incur if the dance hall opened. They are meeting a talking of ways to have the owner barred out. Presently Cooper is suing the city of Cordova for not validating his permit in time for his opening. Retraction of the zoning law is holding his pursue to open, which he contains he submitted before any laws were or might have been in place.
Those residents are ready to take Stella’s string away….but it may be strings attached if the law suit doesn’t go their way…
