WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama says Republicans who are sowing doubts about whether he is American-born may gain politically in the short term by playing to their constituencies but will have trouble when the general election rolls around. Obama says that's because most people are confident that he was born where he says he was – in Hawaii – and are more worried about gasoline prices and unemployment than conspiracy theories or birth certificates. The president spoke Thursday in an interview with ABC News. State officials long have certified that Obama was born in Hawaii. But Donald Trump, the real estate tycoon and possible GOP presidential candidate, has revived questions about Obama's place of birth. Obama says Republican efforts to go after him in a politically expedient way create problems for them. The comments were in response to a question from George Stephanopoulos about Obama's potential opponents in 2012: George Stephanopoulos: I wonder how you size up your potential opponents? I mean all of us have been struck by Donald Trump rising to the top of the Republican field by feeding fantasies about your background. What do you make of that? President Obama: Well you know, I think that over the last two and a half years there's been an effort to go at me in a way that is politically expedient in the short-term for Republicans. But creates, I think a problem for them when they want to actually run in a general election where most people feel pretty confident the President was born where he says he was, in Hawaii. (LAUGHS) He-- he doesn't have horns. We may disagree with him on some issues and we may wish that you know, the unemployment rate was coming down faster and we want him to know his plan on gas prices. But we're not really worrying about conspiracy theories or-- or birth certificates. And so-- I-- I think it presents a problem for them. But, look I right now have such a big day job that I am not yet focused on what's happening on the other side. There'll be a time where I'm-- I'm very focused on it.

Rich, poor Donald Trump as his supre, super ego has put him in sort of a no man's land. After teh interview with Sean Hannity where Donald promoted himself as a best selling author who is so expert he knows our president did not write both of his books and his exptetees in business...Hannity after his interview 'exclusive' with the Donald said tis to his next guest. "I BELIEVE OUR PRESIDENT WAS BORN IN AMERICA, I JUST HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HIM NOT PRODUCING HIS BIRTH CERTIFIC"...
AND, on the next program that followed this one had Karl rove saying he has no idea where teh donald comes p with all of this too far out there statements, and he said he has not idea how he came up with this about no one knew him in college, because Rove said he had an aide wh went to college with our president and was the person who helped him get nominated to run for the Law review board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe donald will find out the hard way that he is not filing a bankrupcy claim and that he is in a big pond as a tiny, tiny fish!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone who can cause anyone over on Fox to side with our president and against them as the //////donald has just done today is in a whole heap of doo doo, big time.

"I" wonder who donald trump is going to be able to blame when his true worth in $$$$$$$$$$$ is known to the public at larg thet could very well land him is jail...it is not going to be good for the public to be able to learn how to get within the wheel within the wheels in order to find out D.T.'s true worth. And, welalready know my girl rachel is going to help her vieweers learn how to accomplish the feat as she always does. lol
If I have been noticing reporters talk about the problems of finding out his true worth, I am sure this gives D.T. a reason to feel more secure in his teaching moments of how great a business man he is over how many times he has had to file brankrupt to how much of his worth comes just from selling his name as a brand and he has had no actual part in creating in th e first place.
Yes he is a great sales man but so was Berney Madolf and look where it got him and again Trump is worth far less than this man was!!! and, as that old saying goes, "the same people you abused to climb up will be the same you pass on your way down" lol (smile)

Rich, as I ready your comment, I am also listening to christ Matthews and his guest discussin D.T.'s 2002 'best seller' on how he wants health care for all and not having people suffer from lets say having too many children...yesterday it was talking about how he praised our president Obama in one of his best seller and his wanting to raise taxes on the richest peoples...
Trump is int all of the camera attenions and not the short term results that will be coming in the long term...emotions changing has a lot to do with why his public s*xual affairs are in his future...he did just decalre he iChristian which comes wirth someting called the 10 Commandments as well as women's orgizations who don't tend to support serial wife abusers like he does in traiding in an older wife for a newer model every so often.

"I" GATHER that what the Black comics are saying about D.T. can't be shown on tv lol, but they showed a clip from the View of Robin Williams demands to see Trumps actual hair line...
At this point I believe that D.T. will end up on the sort end of acceptability if he runs / if he don't run...I doubt if few people get into a loose, loose due to one fight issue like he and the governor of Wisconsin. These two can not even 'take their losses and move on', 'quit while they are ahead', because there is no way out except going back in time.These kind of personality are their own worst enemy.(smile)
But, Rich, I do believe that the governor regrets his actions...he should just resign, because he is only prolonging the bitter end as Palin sure did no thelp him any as he is a republican or he was one... so was G.W. Bush until they bailed on his sinking ship...
