Either you loved her or hated her. I liked her. Today Show co-host Meredith Viera confirmed that she is leaving the program the first week in June to spend more time with her family. For months, there were rumors that she was leaving and Matt Lauer was leaving, too. It's no secret that she hated the early morning hours, but enjoyed the work. A major reason for her departure could be to spend more time with her husband, Richard suffering from MS, and her son, who will be enrolling in college.
She tried to fight back tears (and failed) during her announcement as did her co-workers. With Viera's departure, she has been with the show for five years, changes will be made. News reader Ann Curry will be replacing Viera and Natalie Morales will be replacing Curry. Savannah Guthrie will replace Morales. I'm so glad NBC decided to promote within because Curry has been with the show for more than 15 years. She's a GREAT reporter and deserved a break.
Right now, she is trying to come to new terms on her Millionaire contract.
