While waiting for the doctor today I browsed through the April 2011 issue of National Geographic and saw an interesting tidbit of information. Apparently, at the time of the conjoining that produced President Barack Obama, so the story says, there were still twelve states that prohibited marriage between a black and a white, and only 1 in 1000 marriages were of this sort. In 2008 (why they used this year I don't know) the number had increased to 1 in 60, for a total of 32,300 such. Interestingly, they also said that 75% of these were between a black man and white woman, and also stated that black women were the least likely group to marry outside their (here is that god-awful word again) race. And that this was making it more difficult to define race. Huh!

And see Irma, we do not see eye to eye on this issue of race but it does not keep us from dialogue and friendship. But we do agree that items 1. and 2. you have cited above are good things. But the bottom line is to accept each other for who we are.

And that's why it is confusing to me why those who are most hurt by the words continue to use them. It was not them that created the segregation so why support the segregation that was as you say Jake, foisted on them. Now to me ethnicity and nationality are meaningful terms, because there are in fact different "peoples" (Greek "ethnos") and nationalities. But white and black are not accurate descriptions of anyone. I have never seen white skin or black skin. Everyone's skin has a unique color as is the case with all our features. I.E., we are all unique.

I think races have been so much mixed...past, present and future..that now we are to be known as the human race. However, when we want to trace our history most of us have a mixture of another race underlying in our bloodline. Strangely we still want to cling to separation of races of color .. instead of what truly unites us is unifying in love.

Hello to All,
This blog and the comments that have been made tell me that debating the differences in people (race) is senseless since you all are people ignorant and people blind.
What I mean by people blind is that none of you have the good sense using your eyes that Japanese people are different from Chinese people.
You all would have the ignorance to tell me that we are all part of the human race like plants is all part of the plant race which means you guys cannot tell the difference between a corn stalk from bell pepper plant.
This type of rationalizing is the same to say that you all do not know the difference between a tomato plant and a broccoli plant since it is the plant race.
You all are just as ignorant as all outdoors. How is it possible to reason with any of you all when you all would deliberately and without good-reason deny your very eyes that a Japanese and Chinese person are different as a tomato plant is different from a broccoli plant?
Ms. Shields wants to think when she said, "I think races have been so much mixed...." I don't think I reason and reasoning is what Ms. Shields should learn to do.
Jake has a thing for Whites (Edomites) so; Jake is not reasoning he is emotional. Emotions and reasoning are like oil and water they do not mix.
Richard doesn’t have enough sense to rationalize that diversity does not prevent people from coming together. People come together all the time and we saw it with the G-8 Summit when world leaders discussed the issue of global warming. When a catastrophe strikes a particular country we see other countries come together to aid the falling country. So, because people are racially different does not prevent them from coming together, am I right.
Whites that mix themselves in with Blacks are not able to rise to the level of intelligence of the average White person.
Since Blacks are not on the radar screen yet as far as intelligence is concerned because we are descendents of slaves and slaves are not intelligent people Whites such as Richard and Steve perfectly blends into and have comfort with the ignorant Blacks.
The slight difference here is that the most ignorant Whites are a little smarter than the smartest ignorant Black is. I say that because Richard and Steve are against the Exodus (sovereignty) of Black Americans out of White America to have our own. However, God was not against the children of Israel's Exodus from Egypt 4000 years ago.
Am I making any sense?

Hello Steve,
I am not going to waste much time with you because you are stupid and here's why.
You said that I am not making any sense and you asked me to produced one witness that thinks I am making sense.
Well Steve, I have already made sense when I posted my comment. My comment is my witness. What you are supposed to do is to tear my comment apart and show where it doesn't make sense, stupid.
As long as you are not able to tear apart my comment my comment will stand.
I said that there is such a thing as race. Race is a concept that distinguishes one group of people that is distinctly different from another group of people. I gave the example of Chinese people being distinctly different from Black American people.
Now, it is your obligation to show that I am wrong that in fact Chinese people and Black Americans are one and the same people. But, that you have not done because it cannot be done.
In other words, you cannot change a bee into a dragonfly even though both are insect and they fly nevertheless they are different, stupid. Likewise, even though a Black American man has two legs and a pair of testicles just the same as the Chinese man has nevertheless there are racially two different men.
To argue and debate you when you believe that there are no differences in human beings is fruitless because I'm arguing with a fool. There is no rationale with you.

Hello Jake,
When I said that you have a thing for Edomites that thing is not love. That then is a dislike. At least that's how I interpret your attitude and sentiments when you talk about the Edomites.
In addition, I stand firm on the fact that you are an identity thief when you steal the things that the Jewish people wrote about themselves and their relationship with God in their times of trouble and how God help them makes you an identity thief.
The descendents of the people that wrote the Bible concerning are Edomites.
You, Jake are not in the book of Genesis or Exodus or the Bible for that matter.
You are just as irrational and ignorant as Steve is.

...now Steve the moral of this little story is taht none of this would be a problem with the Panthers or Mr. Obama, but who would actually be interested in an illegal closeted Muslim like our president and the Panthers that so manuy believe are enemy #1...or plese take a look at the states like Arizona and it effeorts to get rid of two of the gretest things the Panthers have gifted our nation with...

2. Racial profiling being made at long last illegal in America.

As a member of the Black race it is not 'race' that is the problem it is 'prejudice' as in ignorance that is the problem. Which in reality is skin color and religious beliefs freedom of choices because these are subjective conslusions not objective or we would take time to accept the W-H-O-L-E human being. (smile)
