ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. (WXYZ) - St. Clair Shores Police detectives say it was like a scene out of the movie Silence of the Lambs.
They say 32-year-old Rahsaan Thedford was at his estranged wife's house at about 4:30 in the morning on Mother's Day when he attacked her and bit off her eyelid.
Police say the two had been arguing, then starting fighting in which he punched her in the head and the face.
She grabbed a steak knife and told him to leave, but that's when detectives say he pinned her down, used his teeth and tore off her lid.
The woman lives in a rental property on Recreation Street. Some neighbors say they have heard fighting and doors slamming at night, but had no idea the fights were this severe.
Police caught Thedford trying to get away under a neighbor's fence.
He had a Preliminary examination in 40th District Court where it was made clear he would face charges for assault with intent to maim.
Thedford is in the Macomb County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
His arraignment is scheduled for June 13th.
Police say this isn't the first time Thedford has been violent. Only married a year, police say Thedford was away from his wife because of an assault he committed on her 17-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.
